Hello everyone, New to RCTech.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this going.

For those looking to install the software; or having issues with getting the program to open or run fully....

I got it to work with windows 11 pro, took me a couple hours to figure out because I'm not good with computers. Hope I can save time and frustration and also help keep the program alive. Credit to all the original posters, I just compiled everything I found here. If anyone has constructive criticism for things I can or need to change, please let me know. This is the "Computers for Dummies" version because that's me. Haha

+ Read the post by RCMAX6696 (post #835 on page 56 on this thread)
+ Navigate to the webpage shown there, click on the green "code" button and download the zip file.
+ In your downloads folder in file explorer, right click on the zip and "extract all" to the location and folder you choose. I don't think it matters where but I put it in program files -> new folder (and renamed it RCCC)
+ Download "SQL Server Compact 3.5 Service Pack 2" from microsoft.com
+ Install the 2 files. If confused, read post #872 by Keyz on page 59 of this thread.
+ Navigate back to your RCCC folder (where you put the RC Crew Chief files)
+ Find file "RCCrewChief V4.3", it's a .exe file, but the .exe was hidden in my file explorer. It's the largest file in the folder.
+ Double click to start RC Crew Chief, if an error pops up, click proceed, continue, ok, etc

*** If you have issues and it won't open fully: ***
- Right click on the .exe and "run as administrator". Issues still?
- Right click the .exe file, go to properties -> compatibility tab, and in the compatibility section mark the checkbox. In the dropdown select windows 8, apply changes, then try starting the program again. Others have said restarting their machine after install also helped. (I didn't need to)

Good luck!

Existing models for cars can be found at the link shared by OliverWierda in post #836 on page 56. I dont know if more exist... Looking for LD3 and L1R files...

True. If you find an Xray X4'22 or 23, the wishbone geometry will be identical. Just not the shocks. So if you are only interested in roll centres, then this will do fine.

I was hoping someone experienced with the code could figure out a way to shorten the X-axis (sec) on the shock graph. It is kind of not helpful the way it is currently. I think the value for that X-axis is somewhere in the source files but I'm not diligent enough to find that information.

Well if you own the chassis yourself, you can literally start by copying the X4'22 chassis and change the spring positions in the car file.
If you don't know which measurements are which, Bob made really good pics where every parameter is shown visually. Getting the lower shock pickup point below the arm line (negative values in RCCC), it can sometimes mess things up.

well if someone had a previous working similar model I would be much obliged. I have been trying to get the current chassis model done by myself tonight and have run into some issues. not the least of which has been trying to get the software to ply nice with the size of the shocks
I have however got almost all of the car modelled except for actually finding the cg.
please advise if you have any additional resources for information.

cheers

With the Schumacher Mi8 I had the same problem, that once you run into shock and piston length issues, the car file somehow gets corrupt... I've since given up on that... sorry.

Hi folks,

I could use your help.

Until recently I had a working original (paid) version of RCCrewChief.
Now I get the following error message when starting:
"The process cannot be continued. The application is formatted incorrectly. Please contact the manufacturer of the application."

I have now downloaded the reupload from Github and it works.
Unfortunately, all the chassis files are no longer available in the program.

Do any of you know where the original program saved the internal application files?
If you did not export the chassis.

And how can I integrate them into the new program?

Greetings Heymy

#### EDIT #####

For those who have the same problem.
You can find the data under the following path:
-> %AppData%
-> Local/Apps/2.0/Data/“cryptic strings”/.../ Data

.sdf files are stored there. These contain all the program data, such as model/chassis values, setups and much more.

These files can then simply be copied into the ZIP from GitHub (replacing the existing ones).

I'm having the same issue ... had a former paid version of RCC and as of last week or so it was working fine...fired it up today and I got the Cannot Start Application Error: Cannot continue. The application is improperly formatted. Contact the application vendor for assistance...

What's the path forward here?

Do I have to re-install from somewhere else? Do all the chassis files get blown away ...?

Thank you,

Steve

No idea if the car models are included in the current package you guys have managed to piece together. But I do have some of the older model files stored locally, uploaded them to a zip for anyone that needs them.

My RC Crew Chief has stopped working on both my computers. It looks like it is trying to find an update. Any suggestions on how to sort ot out.

Thanks in advance
Dave
