I don't think the EVO receivers would need such a 'fix'. I believe they are either made by FlySky, or are made under permission by FlySky, thus they should still work properly.

Hey Guys, I just received my NB4 and FS-RM005 mini-z module, and question if I should update the firmware on the radio or not. It has 2. 0. 99std. installed from the factory, and that's what Flysky says the RM005 needs. I figured the updated firmware is good with the RM005, but after reading some having problems after updating, I just want to be sure! This is my first updatable Radio, so I don't want to screw anything up. I will only be running Ready Sets until I get my PN2.5 built, then I will probably use an EVO board since I now have 2 receivers.
I'm watching WTF RC Cars u-tube videos and learning alot, but I haven't seen one that covered this.
Thanks, Take Care and Drive Fast! Drew

Update: Got everything installed and bound to my 2 Ready Set MR-03's, and it worked great. After watching all WTF RC Cars, u tube videos, I felt confident in updating the NB4 to FW 2.0.102 STD version, and following his instructions it updated and is working GREAT!!! I ran a few dozen laps with my 98mm Stock Class MR-03, and turned my fastest lap on this months Mini96WC layout of 3.99 seconds, and my overall lap times went down 3 tenths! I did nothing to the car other than change the radio! Can't wait to see what I can do after getting it/me dialed in! Also the car goes into reverse almost flawlessly now, where with the factory radio took forever to reverse!

Is the NB4 charged? While I haven't run into the problem you're having with the NB4, I have run into that same type of problem with other devices. In almost all situations, it was caused by the device not being charged enough.

3 years? I would try updating to an older version but newer than you have, then to the latest.

Agreed. If there's have been a few updates between what's install, and the most recent, it's definitely best to install to reach of the updates released, is for no other reason than to be on the "safe side". Besides, sometimes, updates can be released for devices that require a certain previous update to be installed first.

although, I can't say I've ever seen failure to start with the update message. Assuming its bricked, maybe the internal Li-ion doesn't have enough charge to boot? But, in theory you'd have the external battery connected so....

That only helps IF the external pack is turned on.
