So, for the new belted tires, has anyone found a sauce that works well with them?

Your track allows you to use whatever you want?

No. We're still using TDK gen 1 and 2 for indoors. But for outdoors, I think we can use whatever we want.

for outdoors, it has been suggested that the non-belted would be a better choice.

please explain why, wouldn’t belted be more predictable, I would think different setup for either.

Hi, Testing has proved otherwise. Asphalt requires more grip and the softer unbelted tires easily provides that.

I have run the unbelted Gravity premounts USGT tires for a few seasons, and I think they work quite well, however, I would never have run unbelted balloons conference racing my GTI, would have been too unpredictable, I even ran 2 rear swaybars to keep the rear down. I’m of the view our toy cars work similar to full scale cars, albeit more power to weight ratio.

I’m also stubborn, and likely will push the limit, Have both so will experiment on our surface.

Thanks for the clarification.

From my experience, the half used carpet G usgt tires works the best for asphalt and getting the most grip compares the nip
I've tried the belted ,is very stable and easy to drive and less grip compare the unbelted ..I gave is away ,it just not enough tires drips for me
I always save my carpet for outdoor .or you will be sorry
In the hot weather is most likely less problematic traction grip
PS you may like it ( belted tires) but you wont be as fast.

it’s great to try things out and experiment.

Overall the car on asphalt needs to be softer, eg softer suspension, lighter diff oils and softer. In the case of these particular tyres.. it’s pretty much settled that the unbelted are better for asphalt.

As for MikeR, if he recommends that you race a body inside out on asphalt, I’d take his word.. he’s the genius behind Exotek racing and runs calraceway, which is the last remaining permanent asphalt track in Southern California

that lines up with my test results from the indoor season. The belted tires are less grippy in colder situations. When the outdoor season hits, the asphalt will be a lot warmer and the belted tires will soak up the heat and come alive.

MikeR is the truth, extremely nice guy always makes time for the racers needs.

He kicked our butts with a fixed timing 17.5

...in the rain 😁
