I'm not claiming you wouldn't have run into issues, you are admittedly new and don't know how to tune well (no insult intended) so you WILL run into issues but tuning a Traxxas carb may teach you bad techniques you will have to undo later.
I think this thing both has a leak somewhere in the engine and the flywheel was coming loose the more I ran it. I think that contributed mostly to the tuning problems I had. I took the tuning slow but it was never consistent for me. The Traxxas was a bad buy though and I'm kicking myself for it.

Sorry to hear about your experiences, I'm new to nitro and got the Revo 3.3 a couple of weeks ago and love it. Took a while to get the tuning figured out, but it's running well now.

You could just buy a different brand of engine. You don't have to trash the entire truck.

If the engine was new I doubt it has a leak. I would check the clutch nut and make sure it's tight. Do a blockage test as I suggested and check igniter and plug. Get rid of that blue exhaust tube on the stinger It restricts the power. That will make it easier to prime start with your finger. NO fuel or fire engine won't run. If it had a leak it would still, try and pop off. If it's blocked it won't.

I'm not going to trash it. I will work on fixing it I just have other stuff I'm working on right now. It just really annoyed me trying to learn how to tune on it and having all this crap be wrong with it out of the box.

I don't really want to put a new engine in it. If I can find that it's leaking I'll call Traxxas and have them replace this one.

You shouldn't be tunning if you don't understand how to. The factory setting are close but open the high 1/2 turn more and you will be fine.I doubt the engine is leaking as it's new. Check the fuel lines first then the do a blockage test to make sure engine is getting fuel. Check the plug to make sure glows yellow. Make sure when starting glow ignitor is functioning properly. The starter wand/ ignitor box can fail. Again, No fuel no fire engine won't run. Nitro engines can get messy with the excess oil spraying around. Make sure when starting to prime the engine first. to start or until engine pops off.
