Futaba 10PX

For Sanwa one of the reasons I've often heard is the ability to change the side for the steering wheel for left-handed people. Only possible on the M17 (and previously the M12) but not on mid-range. No idea which Futaba radios can or cannot do that, though.

The only radio Im aware of that's less than the M17 ($570US) that has an angle and height adjustable steering wheel is the DX5Pro Spektrum
It wouldn't NEED to cannibalize from the premium radios.
I would imagine Sanwa could make the MT5 have an adjustable wheel for $50 (or more to the point should have included it already for $400). And Futaba most definitely has headroom between the 4series and the 7 series to add some price on and include an adjustable wheel.
Keeping the monochrome and non touch displays would help ensure these radios wouldn't cannibalize the premium handsets.

Just took delivery of my 10px. It comes with a little battery tray that holds 4 AA batteries. However, even with brand new batteries, when I power the transmitter on, it immediately goes into a flashing “low voltage alarm” mode.
I see from the manual that in general the transmitter should be powered by either 2s lipo or 6.6v life.
However, I am curious as to why it even ships with a 4 AA battery holder if those four will provide too little voltage (a little under six volts).
Am I missing something? I can order the official Futaba battery for this but of course that unit is hard to find right this minute so I am not able to use my new transmitter… is there a way I can get this to work with AA batteries while I get the lipo pack? Seems like what it really needs is to have six AA batteries.
thanks!
