Is there a different transmission housing I would need to buy? I don't want to drill any holes in the chassis. Is there anything wrong with the four gear mid motor setup? Pros and cons of running three gear or four gear mid-motor? Again, thanks in advance

No drilling required.

If you want to go with the lay down, then you do need to drill two holes.

I like how the 3 gear went around the track over the 4 gear, but I'm not super savvy on explaining exactly why. It has to do with weight transfer based on the motor rotation.

Thanks friend I got one on order now. The truck I bought is 90% assembled with the rear transmission but I think I'm going to switch it to this three gear mid motor before finishing the build. Thanks

When switching from rear motor to mid motor, you will need to change out your shock tower.

Went and looked at the manual (duh!) and I think what you mean is I just need to select the correct parts that come with the kit. These are screenshots from the manual that show both configurations. Since it's already built in the rear motor configuration I would remove this:

And install this:

As always thanks for all your guys help

Thanks that's good news. Sometimes you try to make an upgrade to find out you need to buy more parts. And then more parts

Download yourself a copy of the rb6.6.or rb7 manual for reference for the new gearbox assembly. It's pretty straightforward, but it never hurts to have a few pics.

Yes, thanks, I had already downloaded the rb7 manual. Proof once again that great minds think alike!

Received my RB6.6 three gear transmission case yesterday so I will install that for a mid-motor configuration. The only other thing I can think of is what's considered the best aluminum servo horn for this truck? Looks like it can't be too long or would hit the bulkhead. It seems it will need to be the z-shaped type or run a spacer and long ball stud to reach in far enough. I have an Associated 15.5 mm or a Yokomo 17 mm. I could try those just to figure out, but I need to buy a new one anyway because I need those for the other cars. So if one of you guys could save me the trial and error and tell me what has worked for you I would appreciate it. Ideally it would be Kyosho brand with that awesome chocolate color anodize to satisfy My OCD. Thanks

UMW702 is the Kyosho part number for the servo horn. Take a look at it and you can match it with something else.

Well I think this thread is dead. Looks like the sc6 has been discontinued?
I haven’t raced in like 9 years and am dusting off the old scr. But things ar brittle and time for an upgrade found a good deal on a sc6 competition slider and going that route.
when did they discontinue the sc6?
think it came out in ‘14 and I don’t see any other upgrades. Looks like I can still find parts….what happened to Kyosho???

It was discontinued a couple years ago. Although it is discontinued, it still offers just about everything that is current, except for easy access diff. except for the suspension and arms, just about all the parts for the RB7 will fit. I have an RT6 and RB7. If they did come out with an RT7, the only changes might be regular axles, instead of the quick release, and the easy access diff.

Slash rear offset. I believe is +2.50 or 2.25. I run TLR zero offset on the Bach end on low bite dirt and they work great.

Is there a set of arms from another brand that will fit the SC6?
