I put about 400 laps on the GLR after work and it is getting there. I spent most of the time getting the car to drive like I want it to and feel that I now have the ESC and Steering how I want it for the most part.....it is amazing how much you can change the feel of the car just with ESC settings.

I have ZERO experience or knowledge on how to tune a tri-shock set up. I did do the basics of getting the car square and followed EMU's base set up but that is it so I am actually pretty happy that I was able to turn the time I did with basically zero tuning. At the end of my second pack I decided I would try and change up the setting a bit but had no idea what I was doing and I took a turn on each of the threaded collars......I immediately went from a fast lap of 4.19s to a 4.05s so something good happened there.

I am liking the car a lot, it feels super smooth, it is quiet, fast and just fun to drive.

Looking forward to learning how to tune this chassis and seeing what it can do.

Cheers,
Jim

Ohhh,....Just had a stomping run with the GLR. I ran some laps this morning and the car was making a funny squeak and I thought it was the diff. I took it apart, cleaned it and checked the bearings but nothing looked out of place. I took a look around and found that I had another bearing fail, this time the front right outside bearing. This is so weird, I have been playing with sealed bearings for decades and have never had a failure in anything RC and now I have had two fail in the last 6'ish weeks on these little cars.

Anyhow after rebuilding the diff the car felt very different so I played with different adjustments on the diff and you can really change the feeling of the car depending on how you have your diff adjusted. I played with a number of different setting and found something I liked. The car was fast and very consistent and I proceeded to run a pretty darn clean 75 laps and posted a new record fast lap for me at 4 seconds flat.

The more I run the GLR the more I like it, It amazes me how noticeable little changes are to the lap time. I still need to learn what does what but it is proving to be super fun.to drive.

Cheers,
Jim

I believe I am the first one to run a Stock 86 race. What a hoot, this is basically my Stock car that I usually run at 90mm and converted it to 86mm to run my new, to me, 934. This has proven to be a tricky car to get around the course because it would traction roll if you looked at it funny. I played with the roll center and offsets in the hopes to limit how much it traction rolled and it helped a lot. I can't say that I can drive it with complete abandon but it is going pretty well and is just so much fun to drive.....and I think it looks awesome. While I have it at 86mm I will run both my Stratos and 935 and see how the three compare.

Cheers,
Jim

Are you guys planning on running more laps?

I still need to get my Stock Car going and get some times......it was time to replace the chassis as a couple of the critical screw holes are stripped, the new chassis should be here on Thursday so I should be able to get in some laps over the weekend.

Cheers,
Jim

I just put my track together and am just getting used to the handling on the track. I should definitely put up a run sometime soon.

I was going to say to run your GLA any how but I believe you put a 5500kv motor in it? That would be a little much on a Mini96. I am curious to see what the GLA could do on this track as it is proving to the the quickest track yet.

I am shocked how much fun I am having with my Box Stock car, it is all about driving and not about tuning which is cool. In sail boat racing we have what is called one design where all the boats are the same and it always produces great racing and I feel the Box Stock is the One Design of Mini-Z.

The better half is doing a girls weekend this weekend and the wee man has a bunch of sports stuff so I should be getting some laps in. After that the track comes down on Sunday I do not think I will be able to run until after Columbus Day as it is show season for work kicks in and I am out and about.

I am excited to get my Stock car back up and running, I was hoping to get started with the swap this morning but the shipment got held up a day so I should see it this afternoon.

Cheers,
Jim

I have turned the power down from foward 100% to 50% and it's a lil more drivable but I have to add so much drag break. I might out my 3500 kg in if I cant get anything to string together.
with a new video game that came out this past week I'm hoping to make time and rip myself away from the controller to go into my basement and run a bit

I have to admit that I am a fiddler and enjoy the tuning aspect of pretty much anything I compete with. Back in my younger years I though a fun week day night would be to play with different alignments on my Auto-X car in the driveway, On my race boats I would keep pages of excel files with notes on different mast positions and tensions, and I always had a note book where I would keep notes on what edge angles I had on my different skis. Also, I am not sure I would say there there is no tuning aspect to Box Stock cars, just this morning I swapped over to the the KS firm fronts and then tested it with three different offset wheels, this car has had the king pins inverted, I have played with dampening on the center shock, and I have run a few different front shocks.

With that said the limited power and limited tuning options do make the driving that much more important in Box Stock which is fun.

Cheers,
Jim

lmao yeah gears 5 is what I've been stuck on that and mortal kombat 11. I was planning on going racing on sat but my job has me covering a store I dont think gives me enough time to get to hobby town on time. So I just might switch out the motor and run laps.

Me too.....

I got my Stock car back together with the new chassis at 90mm in the wide configuration. I think this might be the first time I have removed and installed a board without breaking a steering servo wire which was nice. When I first put it on the track it was traction roll city but after 200 or so laps and some tweaking both of the driving style and the car it was going alright and I went for a timed lap. The first stint was going really well until I traction rolled on the 73rd lap on the opposite end of the course. I regrouped and did another stint and came up with the time I posted which I thought was just OK but looking at my Pro-Stock time I realize I had beaten that time by a couple tenths. I do not have a lot of tries in on my Pro-Stock car, and I am still running the Kyosho LM tires which are quite a bit slower then the PN KS's but I am still surprised how well I did with my Stock car, or how slow my Pro-Stock time is.

Cheers,
Jim
