Mini-96 World Challenge
#1021
Hello All,
Here are the results for November. We had a significant uptick in participation and a crazy uptick in group membership on FB, just this week we added 24 Folks to the group.
I will say it was great getting back and doing some laps but boy am I rusty after a 6-month hiatus. I am guessing I ran 500 laps total and I was just starting to feel comfortable and being about to learn the "quick" way around the track. Now that ski season is starting and life is calming down a bit I look forward to getting more laps in.
With that said let's get to the results:
90 Narrow Stock Class
2nd-LJH- 388.95 Race Time/4.71 Fast Lap
1st-Traveler- 341.67 Race Time/3.97 Fast Lap
Box Stock Class
3rd-Fast Jew- 394.4 Race Time/4.67 Fast Lap
2nd-Traveler- 347.55 Race Time/4.09 Fast Lap
1st-Lucky Lou- 342.89 Race Time/4.07 Fast Lap
Stock Class
6th- EKKOORJR- 455 Race Time/5.24 Fast Lap
5th- LJH- 368.9 Race Time/4.42 Fast Lap
4th- Lucky Lou- 329.7 Race Time/4.04 Fast Lap
3rd- ZXCVBIT- 328.94 Race Time/3.91 Fast Lap
2nd- Medo- 312.7 Race Time/3.83 Fast Lap
1st-Traveler- 301.22 Race Time/3.66 Fast Lap
Pro Stock Class
1st- LJH- 370.6 Race Time/4.29 Fast Lap
Open AWD
1st- Wamikka- 399.36 Race Time/4.67 Fast Lap
FTM (Fastest lap Time of the Month) goes to Traveler with a 3.66 running his Stock Class car.
As you look through the results, you can see that there has been so really good close racing. I will ask you to post your times as you run them, it is good to see where the competitors stand throughout the month and it gives you a goal to reach, but if you just put your times up at the end of the month it makes it a lot more difficult to judge how you are doing.
Thanks again all and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do in December.
Cheers,
Jim

Location - Hangzhou ,China
Race Time - 340.44
Fastest Lap - 3.83s
Chassis - GLR
Body - Audi R8 LMS
Wheelbase - 98mm Wide
Tires - Kyosho 30 deg ridial front/ Kyosho 20 deg slick rear
Motor - Surpass 2500kv
Batteries - TOPGUN 330mah 2S lipo
Front Springs - GL purple
Center Springs-GL Blue
Side Springs-GL yellow
Motor Mount - 98mm
Dampener Fluid (If applicable) - Kyosho 30K
Gearing - 53/10 (5.3)
Notes-Bronze chassis, 1deg steering knuckle used.
Well, things happened and I cannot run my 030 at home due to noise problem. But it gives me the chance to run GLR and see how it performs. I found it requires a smoother driving style compare to mr03 and ma030....
BTW, I really start to admire those who can use m12 to finish a nitro class race. Man, this thing is heavy with 4 AA batteries installed.
12/09, I was able to crack the 4 sec bar but the consistence is lacking. For whatever reason, I will make a lot of mistakes in the 30-40 laps period.
12/12. Friday's overall result was better (336.35),but my fastest laptime was slower (4.01). I tried the Merc AMG GT3 this time, which was very similiar when compare to the 575gtc in terms of how the Merc drove...
I guess I may have to gear up one or two teeth and change the front toe angle. GLR really has a sentitive front end in the corner entry.

haven't raced mini-z cars since ages, my recent cars are amz and gla. I just rebuilt my old mr03 using eagle racing bb2 high torque motor and atomic grease shock at the front. 94mm Ferrari F50. Handles surprisingly excellent even at its initial run and definitely fits better to this size of track. My best of this month is 4.64 so far.
I was wondering about servo settings in ICS manager.
Im also thinking about building 86mm brushless pro stock Porsce 935

As you guys can see I am in for December.
My son's school closed down once again so my better half and son are going to give living at the ski house in VT a shot. I will be staying a few days a week up there but mostly at home so running laps will help keep me entertained in the quiet house.
Looking forward to getting up to speed.
Cheers,
Jim

Love seeing another 575 making laps. The other week I switched out from C5R to the 575. It may not be the fastest body but it is just such a joy to drive and so consistent.
I have my work cut out for me though, I was only able to pull a 4.33s fast lap.
Cheers,
Jim

575 has always been one of my favorite bodies. It has always been very consistent for me and I really like its apperance. Still has that old school GT look but a bit aggressive with all the aero parts on.

Race Time- 370.51
Fastest Lap- 4.46s
Chassis- Kyosho MR-03

Tires- PN Firm
Motor- White endbell MZ9P
Batteries- 800mah Nimah
Front Springs- Green
T-Plate- Carbon Stiff
Motor Mount- MM2
Gearing- 6t w/stock diff
Notes- The local track has closed temporarily so it was time to get the Mini96 set up again. I can tell it's been a while since I've driven on a track this small, does not forgive mistakes. The car is driving OK but I think there's something wrong with the gear diff, it seems to lock up or slip occasionally. I hope to update this post with a better time and a video later but for now here is my entry.
*Dec 31 Update - I finally managed to get a better run in, only a couple mistakes. Stupid phone stopped recording the run part way through but it got most of it.
