"Racing incident" LOL! But seriously, the plastic front clips do break pretty easily if you are running with other cars and are involved in a wreck. I have a bin full of broken ones...

9 months of racing. Haven’t broken one yet. Think I’ve seen one in super Stock class. Too many cartwheels off the track.

The wing/body rule is to prevent a body being modified for an advantage i a, fine with not running a wing at all Lastly the 20mm wheels rule is just to keep life simple and not feel the need to buy more stuff. As for the front clip I do not think stock ones will be an issue on the M96 track. If we start allowing more and more aftermarket stuff we lose the nature of the Box Stock class.

Goot to have ave you on board.

Thanks for the welcome Jim! Right now I'm just getting used to running on the Mini-96. Quite different from the big track experience, but still fun!

I understand and appreciate your take on box stock, so my question is which of the classes would my 911 pictured above fit into? Stock? If so, I will edit the post to change the class.

I look forward to participating with the correct surface once the July layout is announced!

I would personally be open to permitting the carbon front body clip in all classes, as well as permitting reinforcement for the body. Many often double dip bodies if they run on larger tracks, and the stock front clips break if you look at them wrong. A carbon or alternative front clip is not a performance enhancing part, but increases the reliability of the car. Much in the same way as permitting the aluminum t-plate mount, it prevents wear and tear on the chassis when changing bodies and body clips. I usually use long machine screws with a nut on top to secure my body clips, which prevents it from stripping out the holes in the chassis, but also makes it difficult to swap stock body clips when needed.

as for wheels in the box stock class, these should be 20mm only, as it is within the spirit of the rules to stay with stock size wheels in that class. The stock class should permit 17 to 22mm wheel size of appropriate width for front or rear. Stock class has a more open upgrade option, but box stock is minimal in performance upgrades and really only permit reliability upgrades to keep cars on track.

I feel the same way EMU feels, the front clip is not really a performance enhancing part but rather a reliability enhancing item. Being a Newbie I was not aware that the front clip is a failure point....to be honest I am shocked I did not break one running hot laps in the kitchen as I had some seriously hard hits. I will make an amendment to the rules to allow aftermarket nose clip.

With that said your chassis looks like it is pretty darn close to Box Stock with the exception of the top shock which I believe is the Kyosho "oil" shock? Using that top shock puts you into the "Stock" class.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks for adding aftermarket front clips. Think everyone will appreciate it once they break the stock plastic one!

Yes, that is an oil shock, so I will edit the post to change the class to "Stock". But since that car runs so well on my Mini-96, I'm going to switch it back to the stock top shock and see if its just as good, in which case it will become my "box stock" car for this series going forward...

Thanks again!

Where's all the times at? I can't be the only one to be running. I had a chance to run the GLR tonight and improved by a few seconds. I'm out of town next week so I'll be unable to run on the Mini96. I have to get my Super Stock MR03 fixed and on the track. I dropped it the other day and the MMII mount broke at the disc mount so I'll be ordering another.

Also went to the matching offset wheels and narrow front end. Felt slow but was faster by a lot.

Default My Revised Box Stock 911 GT1

Class-Box Stock
Date-6/14/2019
Location-Winston-Salem, NC
Race Time-6:36.134 (396.134)
Fastest Lap-4.818
Chassis-MR-03 ASF
Body-911 GT1
Wheelbase-90mm
Tires-K40R fronts, K20R rears

Front Springs-PN Blue Super Soft
T-Plate-PN Carbon #4
Motor Mount-Stock RM
Dampener (If applicable)-None
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-None

Notes- So I ditched the oil top shock and replaced it with stock shock. Also noticed I was running an 8t pinion, so switched to a 7t for "Box Stock", and the thing is faster than before. p.s. I'm running on smooth side, not rough so results are not comparable.

Is there any "results" sites? Like who is #1 in each class?
So I could compare to those I should be comparing to when I get going?
