Just brought my RC8 nitro converted to electric out of mothballs and have it running great. I never got the e-version body and the stock nitro body is rubbing like hell. I've scoured eBay and the web for RC8e and RC8.2e bodies. Anybody know where I can find one? Anyone have one laying around they'd be willing to part with? Thanks!

New, clear 8.2e bodies are nowhere to be found. They are stored somewhere in secrecy by parts hoarders .

Try going back a page. I recall someone using a RC8.2e body on a RC8B3e chassis.

I found this quote on the RCGroups forum posted by "TheRcCrawlerKing" on Nov. 11, 2018:
"I contacted Team Associated myself and over the phone was told with some trimming that bodies for the rc8.3e will work with the rc8.2e. I was also told no other parts are interchangeable besides the body."

ANOTHER OPTION (If you are not set on using a buggy body)

With a little ingenuity, you can use other body posts attached to the existing shock towers and fit other types of bodies to the RC8.2e. Here is one example:

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the great replies and advice.

johnbugman, are you talking about this? PM me what you're thinking on price. Thanks.

I'll check out the RC8B3e bodies. I also read the Kyosho MP9e bodies work with little modification. Can anyone confirm?

MailManX, cool looking monster beetle but I'm looking to stay true to the buggy look.

Thanks for the offer. You listed all the stuff I have in spades. I stocked up like crazy on parts for race days and also have two almost complete extra rollers. What I really need is the body! I'll bookmark this page if I need anything down the road. Thanks again.

Glad to hear. I have two boxes full of parts. And a wall filled with more. I had 5 RC8.2E based rigs. I'm down to one and that one is going to be sold soon.

Keep me in mind if you need anything.

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to sell your last remaining RC8.2e? Was it lack of parts availability. I can't imagine selling mine. It is such a sturdy and reliable basher. I bought a ton of spare parts for it to last me for many years, except that it never breaks!

Default Alternative to Diff Pinion ASC89114: FOUND!

Although few still own the RC8.2e or any of it's similar vintage siblings (RC8, RC8T and SC8), I wanted to post this in case someone stumbles onto it while doing a search.

P/N ASC89114 is probably THE most sought after part for the RC8.2e. In fact, I'd say it is nigh impossible to find. That one part number has caused a lot of RC8.2e owners to reluctantly part with their cars.

However, there is GOOD NEWS! For those of you who still have your RC8.2e rigs because you just can't part with them, I have found an exact replacement for the Front/Rear Differential ring (43T) and pinion (10T) gears...

The following Thunder Tiger cars all use the identical differential case, planetary gears and ring and pinion gears as the RC8.2e: K-Rock, ST-1, ST-4 and MT4-G3. Those are the ONLY Thunder Tiger cars to do so. None of the other 1/8 scale Thunder Tiger cars share that commonality (i.e. Bushmaster 8e, ER-4, EB-4, etc.).

The Thunder Tiger part number for just the ring and pinion gear set is PD2342. Even that set is getting difficult to find these days, but it is not totally extinct like the Associated ASC89114. Dollar Hobbyz just listed (2) complete differential housings (including PD2342) for $29 each, so I snapped them up. However, keep checking back with them. Their stock changes daily. You can still occassionally fin PN PD2342 on Ebay. But probably the most reliable source these days is GPM. They still make and sell a hardened spring steel version of the PD2342 (matched set of both ring and pinion gears). The GPM part number is KG1043TS, but it cross-references for compatibility with PD2342. You can buy it directly from GPM for $41.90 (https://www.gpmracing-parts.com/thun...-90084505.html). Shipping will vary on destination country. That is expensive, but it these GPM parts are supposed to be an upgrade over the stock parts.

You can also buy the GPM parts from RCDamper on Ebay for $42.99 and free shipping (https://www.ebay.com/itm/HARDENED-STEEL-DIFF-DIFFERENTIAL-GEAR-THUNDER-TIGER-MT4-G3-G5-K-ROCK-ST1-ST4-/401982713464?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10).

For every person whom this post helps, my Karma will go 2mph faster!

Actually no. Mine were in perfect condition. I take great care on my RCs. I just needed to make room for other rigs I was interested in. I currently have 50 RCs. I still haven't sold my last RC8.2E based rig. Can't seem to actually go through with it. As you stated. Theu are just super durable. If you shim the diffs proper they last a long time too. So I may just keep it a bit longer. I have spared to keep it alive for a while too. Just in case.

Sold my RC8.2e a while back and had the chance to rebuy it. I replaced all the electronics, servo, motor, esc with more current items. I also rebuilt rear and front diff. Started taking apart the center diff after hearing some grinding, and found a destroyed bearing. Literally the rear facing outer bearing, fell apart as soon as I disconnected the outdrives.
The spur gear and the diff itself as well as center diff housing look fine. The only damage other than the bearing itself is some plastic melting around the edge of exterior housing.

exterior rear facing side of center diff cover assembly

broken bearing

broken bearing

front facing side of center diff no damage

bearing ring fell off when outdrives disconnected

broken bearing core on rear facing outdrive

center diff mount no damage
No damage to interior plastic or mounting assembly diff sits in. Do I need to replace anything other than the bearing? Part# team associated 25236

Not sure if this thread is dead or if people just don’t give a shit anymore. But I got my Bearing swapped and rebuilt the center diff and front diff for good measure. Ran the car and had a Hinge Pin Bushing fall out part # 89039 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I swear I fix one thing and another breaks. I remember now why I sold this buggy to my cousin😂😂😂

Does anyone have a spare or two for sale? Before I order a 24 piece set I will never fully use since I’m bashing this no longer supported RC Buggy and don’t need a full adjustable set of different degrees💩

So I traded a Slash 4x4 clone for one of these. I had the parts needed to finish it and its operational now. The only thing I am missing is the top plate/diff cover. I see there are lots available but are these cross-compatible with other RC8 vehicles?

If I could find a diff mount riser I may use that too. I was able to make one that appears to be functional but would prefer the real part if its available. I have not found one yet.
