Thanks. The Bluetooth/Hotwire binding is actually fine in my use case. It sees the Hotwire and connects. However, when it reads the ESC configuration, it fails only on the SPEC RS.

Are you on the correct model on your radio? What software is on the RS Spec?

The ESC works fine and the car drives. My understanding is that the Hotwire should connect regardless if a radio is attached. Is that not true?

What I'm unable to do is to use the Bluetooth option for adjusting the RS SPEC. It works connecting from my work laptop (that, and the Android Hotwire app says there is an update available but fails to apply it). The vehicle drives just fine. I'm just hoping to not rely on my work laptop for adjusting the ESC.

Both RS's are version 272.

Using your laptop, confirm you have the fan option set to 'On' not 'auto'... on the unit you are having a problem with ??

As far as I can tell, that is for the RX (RX4, RX8, RSX) ESC's not the RS Gen ESC's. Granted, I'm not expert but there are no settings for that in the RS Gen documentation or menus.

The only ESC's with this option will be esc's designed for fan use: RSX, RSX Pro, Rx8's and Rx4's.

Gotcha. The fan 'auto/on' selection shows on the IOS app but, not when connected to the PC.

Will this work with the RS or RX8? Would be really cool to use my phone instead of carrying around the laptop to the track. I kinda sounds like it will work, but not bluetooth. So does that mean there is a cable to connect it to a phone? Or Id need to use a PC still?

It depends on the radio. If you're a Futaba for example, the radio must be on and set to the car you're trying to adjust. This is due to Futaba grounding out the radio signal when the receiver doesn't have a signal from the transmitter. You can get around this if you unplug your ESC from the receiver if you chose to do so.

The 3.0 Hotwire is BLE BlueTooth. So if you're phone has Bluetooth just pick up the 3.0 Hotwire

I believe I did test this, but I will try it. I was trying so many different things as I originally had an issue getting my home PC to recognize Hotwire, so I don't know what steps I did with which car at this point. No harm in trying it. I'll test it out tomorrow and post back if there is any change.
