Why would you want a shoe to slip? I dunno, ask people who run Teflon shoes.
It might not make much sense for on-road, but a little slip is very helpful for off-road so you don't break traction unintentionally or overheat your clutch and weld the shoe material to the clutch bell.

True, I keep forgetting on-road racers tune their clutches to engage at insanely high RPMs, and in that circumstance you really want some slip because you can overheat the clutch and gall the shoes to the clutch bell in a fraction of a second.

That wont work with the collet as the spacing remains the same on the clutch nut.
