Judging by the speed of the cars, USGT is the new stock, 17.5 TC is the new mod... and mod is the new nitro.

I always looked at it's 21.5 is the new stock, 17.5 is the new 19 turn.

Qualifying dude , we all know that main is a crap shoot for some of us lol

I've read all of the back and forth about motors and other rules in this thread and I thought it was an OK time to give my two cents, from a guy that can't get out to the track very often and races on a budget.

In any TC race I have been in, I never thought I was beat by a motor. I always believe in the driver and setup skills being the top factors.


Motors - Just keep the ROAR approved 21.5s. They have already done the work here.

Costs - I don't think there is a 100% sure fire way to keep costs the same for everyone. Some guys will over spend and some will penny pinch.

To keep racing close - The best two rules for this IMHO are the spec tire and weight minimums. Easy to tech and easy to apply to all car types.

And about the lower weight rule...... how long can some of us expect to be able to race a 10 to 15 year old chassis competitively? Sometimes you have to move with the times. It is racing after all. I still run a TC4 and my best car is a TC6.1. Again, setup and driving are key.

USGT has become the second biggest class in my club, don't mess with what works. New motors come out every year sometimes twice a year. So what, nobody ever said racing was cheap, hell it costs more to golf then run RC. So let's just have fun playing with our cars.

Yep, I will probably never be able to afford a Ferrari or have a house in Monaco. I'm not sad over it nor am I going to sit on forums and incessantly bitch about how unfair life has been. It is pretty cool that anyone with a modest income can put together a car that would rival anything out there. Why should the people who geek out on gear or new tech be held back because some hung-up, entitled little infant either can't put the cash together or is too cheap to part with it? We have it pretty good in RC.

I think that may be one of the numerous reasons we have a hard time recruiting and keeping new people in the hobby. Just because another hobby is more expensive shouldn't mean there isn't merit in trying to reduce the cost of another. Especially if it's on life support in some areas.

Understandable, but I think somewhere in the rules it said things were up to the track directors for what works for their program. The rules in black and white are what is to be run at large or national events. Some of us go to the large events and like it the way it is. On the local level the owner/operators should do what they need to do to keep the doors open, nothing wrong with that. I just don't agree with changing everything/anything because some areas are struggling while others are not. Just my opinion and not always the right one.

Ran my 1st on-road race in over 20 years this weekend in USGT, didn't embarrass myself too bad ( well, except for breaking the front suspension in round one ). Been running off road for about a year but a really good TC chassis came up at a really price so I jumped on it. I like that I can run a body I like ( Mcallister Mustang ) and I don't have to bring a box of different compound tires to each race. Got some catching up to do, but it was super fun.

I need to find a different traction compound though - my clothes, my car and garage all smell like Paragon now - forgotten how bad the after smell was

I'm looking at a new 21.5 motor; I was looking at the new hot Motiv motor; but I noticed amain has a schuur speed 1s motor; which has the 12.5 high torque rotor.

Is the shuurr a good brand? or perhaps I should look at another high torque motor like Trinity; as long as it has the 12.5 rotor.

Schurr has the 1s but I'm not clear on whether manufacturer's think they can have the best of both worlds with rpm and slap in a 12.5 rotor and have the torque as well.
