Bruce, that TP compound is actually Mighty Gripper yellow compound. It works good for norcal. I've heard the rumors of it eating tires but honestly, as long as you wipe down the tires after your run with Tuning Haus tire cleaner or Protoform body cleaner (same stuff), it will keep the tires feeling fresh and soft. Norcal has really inconsistent traction also during the day.

Looking at the USVTA rules about USGT... There's no lower weight limit for FWD cars. Has anyone gone bonkers and built a 750g (pulling a number out of the air..) car to make a fool out of the AWD cars?

But, a big disadvantage in running a car that light is a high CG, so on a track with any reasonable traction the cornering speed is limited by traction rolling.

it will take some real work to keep the CG down.... The other side is "what downforce you DO get, is that much more effective" And you're accelerating a whole heck of a lot less weight out of corners.

If you can do it more power to you. We took away the weight limit in an attempt to get people to run FWD. Few if any ever have tried.

I guess next time I'll have to stick with one compound, at least for the 1st main.

My fwd is down to 1058g. If the track is open its real competitive. If it's tight with a lot of slow turns, it gets killed coming out of the hole. Now Ivan (Bone crusher on here) is running a fwd now and does well with it, but the guy can wheel anything.

If I make you need to add the weight rule back, I will have done my job properly.

What is a good traction compound for these spec tires on parking lot asphalt? Track is sprayed 2 - 3 times during the day with traction compound, I believe it's VHT.
Just started on road again after a loooong break running USGT, now 2 races in. 1st race used Paragon Black. Works OK, smells awful for days and days. Yesterday started with the Paragon, then tried a brand new Team Powers compound - labeled as "Shock Oil" - which was really good, but costs $25 a can, and I'm told it eats tires.
So, rather than bumming around the pits and asking to "borrow" different types of traction compounds, can the racers here on RCTech suggest my next compound?
Thanks
Bruce

What wheels do you guys recommend for the spec ride tire and foams?
I do not like the abs plastic wheels on gravity premounts. I prefer more durable nylon
like most traditional race wheels. Abs plastic and hard click track don't mix well with me. Lol.
