What parts would be needed to put a 44.3 chassis on a 44.2? I'm trying to decide if this would be a less costly way to go than the Schelle shorty conversion. Plus I would prefer to keep the chassis aluminum (I currently have the Avid chassis).

Can I use the 44.3 motor mount and gear diffs with the 44.2?

Not 100% sure about the motor mount (why would you want to anyway, just a question) but yes for the gear diffs. You will have to get the input shafts and pinions as well though.

I'm doing a shorty conversion on my b44.2.
Does anyone know what length front/rear center drive shafts I need as the whole slipper/spurgear assembly moves forward.

Default Poor man's shorty conversion

I'm pondering updating my B44.2 with the Schelle kit since I prefer the slipper/ball diffs on this car but I hesitate to invest much more into this kit with presumably more new cars coming out this season.

I see that a couple makes of "super shorty" packs (2s pack in 1/2 of a saddle config.) out there now. Doing a little quick math shows me that I'd come in 10g under legal weight if I used one of these in my current setup.

Edit: closer examination of my Avid chassis reveals that the motor mount can't easily be moved. Any change in that regard will require significant changes. If the "super-shorty" is to be employed, it'll simply be removing 1/2 of the battery.

This option is appealing because I run a 13.5 spec class.

I recently picked up a used b44.2 and have been going through the car doing some repairs and refreshing. It turns out the car has a ball diff in the front and a gear diff in the rear. Here's the question, would it be prefferable to put the gear diff in the front or the rear?

Are you using a conversion kit?? When I did mine from Schelle,I used the stock .2 centers and just had to swap the front to rear and vice versa...

I would purchase another gear diff. I had both ball diffs and found the gears to be more consistant and easier to drive. But if that not an option, I would run the gear up front.

Anyone have any setup recommendations?

I've currently been following a lot of the team driver's setup sheets...but the car seems to push and be a little loose. (I dont mind the looseness but the pushing is irritating)

yellow 35w, 1.5 front
green 30wt, 1.7 rear w/black sway bar

Schelle conversion, shorty, all 44.2 running gear.
R10, 7.5 orion

For some basics.

Thanks all

The Schelle kit comes with everything you need along with instructions. It is a "true" complete conversion. You don't need to purchase anything else. It is an awesome update to a tried and true platform.

Use this set up from "Coach." Its is his baseline set-up for the Schelle 44.2. Very easy to drive and handles very neutral. Not too loose, not much push...just right. I have been running it with a few small changes to suit my track and driving style.

here in australia we run on mostly medium to loose and dusty true outdoor tracks in various sizes any recommendations for a shorty setup for tracks like this?
