Would the header off an Ofna 086 work? I quite like the 0801 as is though.. Also have an RB 2087 I never use with that sort of header... If anything I'd take a tad more top end...

Did a little practice video after last months Mnrc Rd. 6. The track grooved up awesome but didnt wear tires. Ran M4 Lockdowns and ran them 1/2 hr in the B and 1/2 hour in the A.
For an engine I was trying to tame down the R8 for my needs. I inserted the crank, opened up crank timing and raised the sleeve a bit. I love this powerband and outran pretty much everything down the straight. Sorry the vid isnt the best, my nephew doesnt have much experience filming.

Ran at Fear Farm for the first time Saturday night. Made the A main in open buggy with my R8. Motor had enough power for most of the jumps but think I need to repipe it. Currently running a Go 2072 I had sitting on the shelf. Think it's better for high end speeds. Running a dynamite 053 in my Truggy on a modified R8 and it's a monster combo with no power issues. Anyone have any other pipe recommendations for a stock R8 for more bottom end? Both my R8's idle great and have never flamed out!

I still wouldn't mind getting a little more bottom end from my non modified R8 for buggy, but think I found out why I seemed to lack power compared to running at my home track. Ran a onroad race in LA last month and won a gallon of fuel. It's 25% onroad fuel with less nitro and more caster than I usually run in my 30% offroad fuel. Should I pull one head shim and still repipe? Fear farm has some super big jumps that are close together, so low end power is crucial. Maybe I should bump up to 7mm restrictor too?

I found the 7mm restrictor to give considerably more power than 6.5mm with barely noticeable less runtime (of course, these is based on my testing, on my home track). So I think it's a safe bet to go to 7mm. Also, try the 2090 pipe, it's the allround best pipe for this engine in my opinion.

If running 25% you could remove one thin .1mm shim, it also depends on what plug you are running. I like the 0801 for more bottom end and the best mileage.

Just noticed I was out of OS plugs and have some nova plugs. I know when I used to run nova's once you used an OS plug you couldn't go back to a Nova plug. Is this the same case with Argus?

Fear farm is difficult right now. The triple in the "center" requires a TON of bottom end, forward bite, and commitment to clear. The one in front of the driver stand to me felt like it takes a top end charge to get over. This layout is REALLY taxing when it comes to motor. It's made a lot of people unhappy, because what was fast on the old track, isn't fast enough on this one.

How'd you finish in the A? That was my first win, still stoked over it.

You can try but it could leak, it depends on if you gorilla tighten the Os plugs. The taper is the same but the Os have less contact and can distort the head button. A Nova 5 might work ok but the 6 is pretty cold for an Argus.

I like the nova #5 in the argus but it really narrows he tuning window. If you are not spot on with your tuning I would go for a hotter plug. I got some of my best runtimes using the #5 but if you aren't 100% sure on your tuning it will cause head aches.

I guess I will just order some more OS plugs to be safe since they are working and I don't want an airleak.

I think I finished 8th in the A main. That track is very tuff and technical. Love it though. I love tough tracks since they make you a much better driver.

Not sure which Os plug you were using, I would recommend a P4. P3 is just too hot and can mask a bad tune.
