I joined the mid motor game late. I had never driven a mid motor car until I built my Lite but I could see how much faster the mid motor cars were in the corners. They just carry so much more speed. I can win on occasion, but am usually a 3rd-5th place in the a-main guy. I will say that my lap times did improve by some, but real benefit was that the Lite is so much more comfortable to drive hard.
Bottom line, my stock Lite (with just a Schelle slipper) is faster and more comfortable to drive than my blinged out B4.2.

Was talking with a friend over the weekend racing and he commented that his B4.2 used to be very competitive against the MM cars.

I recently bought a b4 off of craigslist. All in all the buggy is solid. I upgraded to the hex axles up front. I also put in a dynamite esc to handle lipo. But ive been thinking about taking it brushless. So i was wondering if there is a better transmission out there for it. I cant seem to find one on amain pr tower hobbies or asia tees. Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Integy aluminum shock towers? I just broke the rear one on my B4.2, and as a beginner learning the ropes, I figure I'm probably going to be hard on parts. These are pretty expensive though, so I wondered if anyone thinks they're worth it. Otherwise I'll just get a spare or two of the stock AE parts.

Your best bet is to slow down and crash as little as possible. The speed will come more quickly if you limit the time upside down.
Parts like shock towers and a-arms are best left composite (plastic). Not only are big parts made of aluminum going to be really heavy, instead of breaking they bend. Which unless you notice right away, will have a severely negative effect on handling. Not to mention that if you make something stronger, something else is going to have to take the energy instead. Expensive stuff like chassis'.

Hopefully you guys can help me out. I'm easily a second off the pace. I'm running my B4.2 FT on indoor clay, 17.5T stock class. The problem I'm having is that the car is understeering like crazy (at least it feels that way to me). I want to say it's at the corner entry, rather than mid or late.
I also notice that it seems to land heavy, even when the buggy lands on all four wheels. What I mean by that is that it seems like it slams back down whereas others land really softly with almost no rebound.
My setup is: AKA Typos all around, black springs front & rear, level ride-height, shorty lipo all the way forward, -1°/0° camber f/r, 0°/2° toe f/r (as best I can measure).

I personally never liked AKA tires on clay, they are okay for 1/8th stuff and outdoor. I also usually ran bones level in the back and the front 2mm higher. I also ran green springs up front and a full size battery for the extra weight, if I didnt I would be under weight.
