I have one of each and am alternating between them. I keep one charged in the pit box and one in the radio. When it gets low I swap the battery and charge the dead one when I get home. So far both are working with no problems. No real detectable difference between them from my perspective. I am not running them down real low yet. They say you should run some break in cycles on LifePo using only 60 percent of the capacity or so for the first dozenish cycles. I've only run a half dozen or so cycles on my packs so far.

I personally have not had the greatest luck with protek packs. I haven't had that specific one so I can't comment on it directly. I had a couple protek LifePo rx packs for my Nitro buggy and they puffed up and wouldn't fit the the receiver box any more after only a short time. I haven't used any of their LifePo batteries since.

I use a Pelican 1450 case. Get the pull and pluck foam and form it to fit the radio.
As cool as metal futaba box's are I prefer pelican for my high end electronics.
If you get another radio you can get a new foam insert for about 30.00 and it's good to go.

Im looking into buying a new radio. I have always ran airtronics radio but i am looking at the futaba 4px. I have heard of people having issues with the radio. I am just wondering if that is true and have they fixed the problems?

I've had no issues with mine since around October. That being said I got mine from Hong Kong and run the out of the box RX.

Whilst there is a bit of chat on this thread regarding cuts outs I think you need to balance this against all the people that buy the radio who don't have issues and do not feel the need to search out a forum to say how normally its working.

I have not experienced any issues to date.

Update...
So after troubleshooting my "glitch" problem, it looks after all that it wasn't electrical/radio/receiver problem, it was a mechanical problem.
I'm running the MIP puck system, and the way the driveshaft and outdrive connect is via a groove and a screw, screw backed out causing the channel on the driveshaft to strip, so sometimes it would work and others just spin.....so for me my glitch issue myth has been debunked !!!

Mine has been solid. No issues at all. Running 5 cars on it now and not a single problem. All of the cars are using either the stock R304SB or the R304SB-E recievers.

Really love the radio.

Good point (something I always keep in mind when reading online reviews of any kind).

Personally, I used my 4PX for one race day so far with my Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy. I used the standard R304SB receiver in each vehicle.

I updated the software from the Futaba site before putting it into use (before binding it to any receivers).

I also used a LiFe 6.6v from the very start, versus using AA batteries, to power it.
,
I had zero issues with the radio functioning normally.

I really like the craftsmanship of the radio. It actually looks and feels like something that costs 100's of dollars. The adjustments are pretty easy and straight forward, also.

I love the 4PX so far, and am glad I bought it.

I love the radio as well. I currently have the 304SB in all my electric cars. 204 RX in my mini-8, and crawlers, and the 614 in my nitro and e-buggy. No issues with them, but it does not work with the 603 receivers at all.

Welcome.

Browse to the "System" menu and you should be able to verify the current f/w that is installed under an info page.

Compare that with what is posted on Futaba's web site with regards to available for the 4PX. If you desire to update, follow the instructions found on the download page for this model.

No issues with the pre or post update here.

In this 4PX and previous 4PK, 4PKS and 4PKS-R, you have to use a LiFe 6.6v....Lipo is given much voltage and can burn the radio
