Futaba 4PX

I personally have not had the greatest luck with protek packs. I haven't had that specific one so I can't comment on it directly. I had a couple protek LifePo rx packs for my Nitro buggy and they puffed up and wouldn't fit the the receiver box any more after only a short time. I haven't used any of their LifePo batteries since.

Whilst there is a bit of chat on this thread regarding cuts outs I think you need to balance this against all the people that buy the radio who don't have issues and do not feel the need to search out a forum to say how normally its working.

I've had no issues with mine since around October. That being said I got mine from Hong Kong and run the out of the box RX.

Update...
So after troubleshooting my "glitch" problem, it looks after all that it wasn't electrical/radio/receiver problem, it was a mechanical problem.
I'm running the MIP puck system, and the way the driveshaft and outdrive connect is via a groove and a screw, screw backed out causing the channel on the driveshaft to strip, so sometimes it would work and others just spin.....so for me my glitch issue myth has been debunked !!!

Personally, I used my 4PX for one race day so far with my Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy. I used the standard R304SB receiver in each vehicle.
I updated the software from the Futaba site before putting it into use (before binding it to any receivers).
I also used a LiFe 6.6v from the very start, versus using AA batteries, to power it.
,
I had zero issues with the radio functioning normally.
I really like the craftsmanship of the radio. It actually looks and feels like something that costs 100's of dollars. The adjustments are pretty easy and straight forward, also.
I love the 4PX so far, and am glad I bought it.

I love the radio as well. I currently have the 304SB in all my electric cars. 204 RX in my mini-8, and crawlers, and the 614 in my nitro and e-buggy. No issues with them, but it does not work with the 603 receivers at all.

Browse to the "System" menu and you should be able to verify the current f/w that is installed under an info page.
Compare that with what is posted on Futaba's web site with regards to available for the 4PX. If you desire to update, follow the instructions found on the download page for this model.
No issues with the pre or post update here.

Good point (something I always keep in mind when reading online reviews of any kind).
