Cool. Simple enough. That answers my main question. Thank you.

I'll be running mostly on a pretty large indoor clay track with pretty good grip most of the time. It's finally cooling off here in Texas (mid 80's lately). Hot during the summer though. And it'll be under a tight fitting 1/8 body, not an open SCT body with lots of airflow.

So what..... 2-4 lights on the temp meter should be ok?

Does removing fan void warranty? (If there is any left)

I haven't installed a fan in my 3.0E ever. Ran in MS this past September, it was pretty warm and very humid, ESC never came off more than 4 LEDs, which is perfectly acceptable. Removing or not using the fan does not void your warranty, it's an option. I have never needed one, come to think of it, besides 2S 4x4SC. Went to 4S and now now fan needed there either.

in your conditions maybe it's better to use a fan on hot days but passive cooling is generally enough, well placed holes/ vents in the body should make the trick

the esc will shut down if it's too hot so don't worry too much I get about 3 leds on mine just after a race and it's doing fine

Default Hotwire v2 won't recognize ESC as a RX8 Gen 2

I picked up a new Hotwire version 2 recently. I uninstalled my old Hotwire software from my PC and downloaded the latest version which should be 10.2.
(Although I can't see a place in the Hotwire software that shows me the version I'm running)

Then I hooked it up to a recently service repaired RX8 Gen 2 and am noticing under the Advanced section, the ESC Model shows "Unknown" and the only software version listed is 238. I know 250 is the latest software version. I'm guessing version 250 isn't being listed because the Hotwire doesn't know what unit it's hooked up to?

I hooked my Hotwire up to an RS Pro, RS Gen 2 and an RSX I have laying around and it correctly identifies these ESC models. I then hooked the Hotwire up to another RX8 Gen 2 I have in my box as a spare and it again the ESC Model shows "Unknown".

Am I doing something wrong here? How can I get my Hotwire to recognize that it's hooked up to an RX8 Gen 2 and give me the option to update the software to 250?

Hook it up in this order after clearing out your "open" apps. You can do this by holding down the "home" or button at the bottom and either swipe away the apps or clear all.

Then hook up the hotwire to the esc, your OTG cable , then your phone. If your app doesn't auto open, launch it.

Note that your esc MUST have the latest software installed for the app to recognize the esc. Rx8s and most Gen2's are at 250.

One more lipo question d hahaha I kno
I was doing some research on lipo resting voltage after a run, pertaining to the low voltage cut off setting. Guys say resting voltage per cell after a run should be 3.6 and anything lower can start diminishing or damaging the lipo?

I always will "storage" charge or discharge my batteries when I am not going to use them within a day. This brings them to 3.8v/cell. I always have heard to store your batteries at nominal voltage.

I wouldn't worry too much about "resting" voltage after a run. I would recommend storage charging your packs if you don't plan on running them the very next day, etc.

Default wire size question

I fixing to buy a gen2 rx8 and a 1900kv buggy motor. the battery im looking to run has 10 gauge wire with a deans plug. my question is do I need to wire the rx8 gen 2 with 10 gauge wire also? I will be running it in a tekno eb48.2. also is the wire that comes with the combo enough of should I go 10 gauge all the way?

Default Re: Tekin RX8 Gen 2

I recently purchased a new Tekin RX8 Gen 2 and a Pro4 4600 motor for my SCTE 2.0. I had the local hobby shop solder it up and installed them. Unfortunately, I am having issues with the low end of the throttle. The motor is stuttering badly, the wires to the lipo, the rx8 gen 2, and the motor are getting quite hot (140+).

Once it gets past the low end of the throttle, it works fine. I am either full throttle or stuttering badly. I rotated the motor in neutral and the three sensor light are working, so it is not the sensor cable. Occasionally, the motor just buzzes instead of stuttering.

Any ideas? or should I just send the esc in to Tekin?
