Thanks for your response Randy... It just seem's like one time it is a rabbit out of the hole then it just is off a little the next.
Spectrum dx2 throttle set up pretty much stock 100epa's and such for the transmitter. On the esc same here too flat throttle curve, no timing, Started out with 8 for cl and have been moving it up to get some torque for the short run to the triples. I think 1 or 2 drag brake.
I haven't updated the firmware I believe running 248. Running SMC 2s 5600 70c lipos. Green bar codes. Pretty much stock as far as the truck is concerned. Diff's w/center diff and shock oil and springs have been adjusted but that is it. Truck's drive system is in a very good condition, just changed out all bearings.
Comments at the track are smooth and quiet. If you have any suggestions I am all ears.

Also update to 250 esc software. Leave all the exp and throttle profile linear for now until we can get the power delivery set up for you.

Small question about gearing for the 1900kv buggy motor:
ATM i have 2200kv neu castle motor inside my rc8.2e, geared to 16/46. Along with my Tekin combo i've ordered set of Novak pinions - 18,19,20. Hit or miss? According to some math looks like a 'hit', or not?

Did you lose throttle and steering or just throttle? I had a similar issue where I lost throttle (Tekno SCT410, HW SCT-Pro, xerun 3656sd 4700kv) with plenty of battery left (so it wasn't the LVC since my 4pls gave me the current voltage). I was trying to determine max gearing (had an 18t pinion with punch set to 5), and the motor was not overheating. Problem went away when I went back down to standard gearing (15-16t). Still not sure what the problem was exactly since it was not motor temp, esc temp, or LVC. I can only guess that it was trying to suck too much power from my 2s pack (which was a pro match 90c 6000mah). So I'm definitely curious as to what others may think is the issue.

For medium to large outdoor you will want 20-21t

I am still running the HW 4700kv motor, and I don't think any other motor would out perform it. My advice is to keep the HW motor and only replace the ESC. As far as I can tell, this combo (Tekin ESC and HW 4700 motor) is as good as it gets.
As for why I was having the problem on the SCT-Pro, there could be a number of reasons since it was only a recent problem. For one, I was getting power for the steering servo direct off the balance plug on my 2S battery. This may have caused a brown out of some sort, but I am not really sure (here is where I plug the awesome HV BEC of the RX8.2). The problem also could have been from some loose Solder connections on the SCT-Pro (I tried to re-wire but the pre-soldered posts were a total pain to desolder, so I had to give up). I did notice the problem went away when I went to a really low pinion gear (14t) at a low punch setting (2 or 3), but then the SCT didn't have enough power to counter the nosedive on jumps. Since I had my eye on the RX8.2 anyway, the decision was easy. And I couldn't be happier running Tekin for my ESC.
Hope this helps.

First off, since this is a RX8.2 thread I'll start off by saying I replaced my SCT-Pro ESC with the RX8.2 and the problem went away. I also couldn't be happier with this ESC, I love the throttle/brake feel and the data logging. And I really like the HV BEC. I run the ProTek 150T on my SCT410, and at 7.4v, I get a crazy amount of torque with lighting speed (I don't have the specs handy, but if you look them up I can't find any other servo with faster speed AND more torque). I have so much torque I can right my truck in seconds when it is lying on its side just by turning the wheel and giving some throttle (the force of the wheel turning into the ground pushes the heavy truck up and over to be right side up).
I am still running the HW 4700kv motor, and I don't think any other motor would out perform it. My advice is to keep the HW motor and only replace the ESC. As far as I can tell, this combo (Tekin ESC and HW 4700 motor) is as good as it gets.

So Team Tekin, put your money (i.e. a 4300HD) where your mouth is and let's do this!!!

I know as soon as i order an android tablet, apple will give the ok for hot wire control!
I have ipad's and Mac computers !
I do not want to mess up my mac computers at races
i'm looking for a tablet that has wifi capabilities
that I can use with hotwire 2
so my son can watch netflix on tablet until its time for him to race
anyone have links?
my buddy has a galaxy S5 phone, will hotwire work with that?

I'd like to outline this "pep$i challenge" (I'm not getting sued,LOL). If we're going to do a test there must be a track involved and the person driving it be "blind" to the test.
Other than that what else is in the test?

Find pinions that get the truck to top out near the end of the straight so it's an apples to apples comparison as far as temps (motor & esc) and low end grunt.
A sample of 3 drivers within a hour so ambient temp change doesn't play much of a role.
Data log each drivers run, name it & save it clear the log and let the next one loose. After the runs are complete, ask the drivers for their seat of the pants opinion on which one had the best bottom, mid & top end.
I'm not sure lap times would help unless all 3 drivers drive the same truck as the test truck. If they did you could use times. If not they may be getting more used to the truck by the second run and have lower times regardless of the motor that's in it. All drivers run the same truck as the test truck, lap times are relevant.

I think the best test would be a motor dyno but a blind test using a butt dyno I guess is the most feasible way to go about it.
