This is a purely rhetorical question, but the SSL functionality only exists when the ESC is plugged into the SSL receiver port. Couldn't ROAR just mandate that the ESC only be plugged into the standard channel 2 port instead of requiring a lockout? That would be simple to check at inspection...

Not saying you guys aren't right but there are a few ESC's with this instant reverse option on sensored motors but most as you say have brake first, then reverse. Hobbywing and Core RC are two that support instant reverse and are in common use in 1/12th scale classes here in the UK.

I am with you. Frankly I rarely race at a roar event but it would be great to have it if it is available. I still have one brand new in the box. They are really really nice!

Just setting up my Super Vortex Zero and Exzes Z and have a question after reading through the posts. Does the race mode need to be activated in order for the speedo setting via the code function to work or will it still work with the race mode inhibited ?

The UK/English version of the Super Vortex manual, Rx-472 instuctions and the SSL instructions dont mention this at all they just mention turning the Aux 1 and 2 to Code via the system menu.

I see the Japanese instructions posted previously mention race mode on pages 6/7 but not sure if they are saying this is optional or its been updated since

Any one tried ??

recall from my memory, yes, the race mode is required to be activated so that you can set the codes in aux1 & 2.

I see Airtronics says they are ROAR approved now but don't see it on the ROAR list.

Anyone have updates?

Does anyone know if there's a firmware upgrade available for this ESC? I can't seem to find anything to suggest there is but does anyone have any further information?

I just picked up the vortex zero I was able to calibrate it with my transmitter but I'm having a hard time selecting and changing the program mode. The instructions were pretty late am I supposed to leave the transmitter on or off when changing program modes? Basically I'm trying to select Advance timing mode

That's great! But reality is, and this is from Airtronics, They are still waiting for final confirmation and update from ROAR.

When you are changing program mode via ESC your transmitter must be off. From ESC on position. Push the setup button for 4 sec (program mode). Push for 1 sec to cycle to the mode you want. Then push for 2 sec in your selected mode to change setting for that mode, etc...

Please chime in your experience on your ESC's temperature. What's your highest reading?

I just want to make sure that on radio, TEMP 1 = Motor Temp and and TEMP 2 = ESC TEMP. But on the Thermal Protection reading, first reading of 120º C (248º F) is ESC and second is motor.
