in general the 4 pole 540 and 550 motors have more torque than the 2 pole 550 motors. the 2 pole 550s depending on rotor thickness will have a variety of torque, thicker more torque but more drag brake effect. I think 12.5mm became kind of the standard now. novak at one time I believe had a 14mm option rotor that was like ultra torque.

Hi guys just purchased a slightly used modded sc10 4x4. I've done a lot of reading an jumping through this forum.... great job guys. My truck has the exotech lcg chassis , ft upgrade kit with the vts slipper, chassis brace, tower, saddle packs, an steering bar. I run on a high bite blue groove 1/10 scale outdoor track dusty I plan to hold off on the center diff an just try the front locker from exotech and of course the garodiscs curious about diff fluids? I'm running the hw 150amp sensored esc with a tekin pro4sc 4000kv. also does anyone use the underdrive overdrive with the front locker? and settings for the front clicker please I tried reading 10-15 page sections every few hundred pages an I did the search thing not a lot of luck answering all my questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dale

wish I had more info to help ya.

I can add that for me at least, in general 5K diff fluid in the rear felt "right" and appears to be quite common a starting place.

If the diffs were easier to get to I bet be more people trying to play with them.

Thanks guys... I think 5000 is going to go in the rear everyone seems to agree there, but as you mentioned is not fun an I don't plan on doing this again for a while so I'm looking for a front suggestion, the range Seems to be from 5k to 60k I'm guessing somewhere in the 5k to 15k on the high bite track. I only run one track so I'm not looking for all round setup just high bite blue groove sometimes dusty

Thanks again,
Dale

probably start with 10K to 15K personally. with the center diff I was down to 7K front and really liked that in general in all conditions I ran from carpet to loose dirt.

On a high bite track without the center dif you need to be at least at 30k in the front. 15k with the center dif. if you go any lower without the center dif the truck will be WAAAAY to aggressive and edgy and then you will end up having to run really high spring rates , toe in and positive camber. The truck never has any issues with getting steering we are all usually trying to take steering away! one benefit to the higher front fluid is your onpower steering is great with thicker front fluid!

A good basic setup is the gold springs 30 wt oil all around and the 2.0 sway bars. This truck loves sway bars.

Hey guys, just got a FT sc10 4x4. im new to 4x4 sct. so here are a few questions. The front "slipper" keeps clicking every time hit the throttle after braking. is it breaking my truck? Can i fix it?

I am curious what motor would be best for indoor carpet/ clay racing?

Thanks in advance

What's the average going price of a used sc10 4x4 on here? Also, how durable is the truck, in all honesty! Trying to decide between sc10 or Scte 1.0

when you say front slipper, are you referring to the front clicker? You can lock that out by tightening down the nut. Check your manual as it says how much to get it "locked", its a tuning feature.

Main thing I would look for clicking would be the diffs, that means they aren't shimmed right. AE in general sends out a free shim kit if you call them.

For indoor high traction racing, give some of the lightweight builds a look. I believe 540 sized motors are really well liked in that regards. I liked the fact that it helped with less weight on the rear as the vehicle is really butt heavy in comparison to other cars.

If you want a carpet setup to try shoot me a pm with your email address.

Average used price of stuff actually selling, seen loaded vehicles with parts, upgrades extra go really cheap, like $150 and below, even lower at times, and these are the factory team versions.

I think the big thing to consider is what track you are going to use this on. If its something 1/10 scale sized medium to higher grip, the truck is in its element there. You don't run into a lot of the issues reported that have aftermarket fixes and some that don't like the in air attitude control that is improved by running a counter gear setup that Mantisworx and Shark custom made for there vehicles.

if you are going 1/8 big track and / or loose conditions, you see the most benefit from these things:

- RC Shox 2 stage pistons
- Exotek Chassis
- RC Shox Center Diff
- M2C Rear Toe in Brace for more rear toe

for durability mainly as its a pain to get to for changing, add the STRC steering arms.
