The motor forum is dead so I'll just post here.

I just soldered an SMC 7.5 in my Serpent 2wd buggy and the motor is kinda loud. Is this normal for this motor? It almost sounds like I have an 1/8 all metal tranny. I checked the mesh and everything. it kinda reminds me of a castle 1/8 motor with it's loud strong magnets.

Default runtime

Does any one know about what run time i would be looking at with the 4s 6500 pack. i got one on order to try out in my buggy which is a ve8 with a tekin 2050. these will be a large to medium size track. some fast flowing some technical. the smallest track i think is about 150 by 190. the biggest track i think is about 250 by 210. The only info i can find is i get ten minutes with these pack but they dont say what motor or driving condition. I roll the throttle and i drive semi aggressive with a slight on power any info would be great thanks.

I am running the same motor T8 2050kv in my MBX6 eco. With the 6500's running on a larger out door track I get over 20 min of run time and 30 min on a small indoor track.

i am getting 20~25 min on indoor medium to large track in 1/8 buggy - some motor same batteries. This is going to depend on several factors - but I can get more if i actually attemp some throttle control but I do love the 6500 4S SMC batteries - If you still running 6 min qual though - no need. Not sure of the weight difference between the 5000 and 6500 but you may consider 1 or 2 5000 and a couple 6500.

I have a 6.5 and an 8.5, mine are not loud at all, you might try taking it apart and blowing it all out, maybe a tiny piece of debris or something. I have had motors like that though, I had a Novak motor that was very loud, fast as all heck but loud.
If cleaning it out doesn't work you might try contacting SMC and see what they have to say.

Thanks, I'll take it apart and blow it out.

I thought I read somewhere that these motors are a bit noisier than other brands due to it's open can design.

Yez that probably what im gonna do I think the tracks are gonna be shooting for ten minutes. So I will try them out.i know the 6500 2s are kinda over kill in sct but I dont have no puffing with them after 2 years. So I would rather have over kill then under kill. I even follow that rule with my servos.

Default boosted 17.5

I am going to be buying an SMC 17.5 to use at my track's largest annual race. I will be racing my B4.1 in both blinky and mod. Does anyone have any suggestions for FDR when boosted? The track is 125x65 indoor clay. I assume the layout will be technical. Thanks.

Turn the motor by hand and if you don't hear anything then replace your pinion and spur.

Finally got to run the Factory spec 5000 50c 2s packs i just bought Great Punch and Decent run time for the price. These are my first Lipo packs and was very Happy with the Performance. Question...Each time i ran the truck i would pull it off just before the LVC would kick in. I checked the cells in all my packs and they are all sitting around 3.95 volts. Is it okay to leave them there for a week or so till i use them again or do I need to Discharge to 3.8volts.

Dad
I'm running the 17.5 blinky and I am at 34/69 with around 50-55 degrees timing on the can.
