hi one of my mates uses the eye of the needle to change clips we use small /very/ we onley change 1 the end with the hole in wrist pin and I was told if you want you can do it in a glad bag so you can find the clip when it vanishes I have avoided this prob but it gets up my nose to have to get someone else to do it/takes 1 hour round trip to get what takes him 1 minute make sure you get piston on the right way or you will brake it//the voice of a 65year old novice//ha

greg, how does he do it with the needle and why the pin end with the hole in it? also I see that part 5200 shows a clip with the little ear and just a plain circle...is there a difference? thanks, mike. PS,if I have someone do it,it will go by mail!

What I do is put one end of the clip into the groove and then use a wine cork over the top and twist it anti-clockwise while applying a bit of downward pressure. That gets it in the hole and then I use a small flat blade screwdriver and gently push the clip to locate it fully.

I would guess its to fit the eye of the needelhole goes over clip and twist it I tried it on some old pistons first and it was fine my fingers aren't much good so I use pliers

Plain side first as the end could scratch the piston as you rotate it into the hole. It isn't easy but after you've done it a few times it just tends to 'click' and you'll be able to get them in straight away!

Scratches arround the hole of the piston pin will not harm the performance, not even a tiny bit. I always put one end of the clip in the hole, put my thumb on it and with the tip of a hobby knife I push in the other end of the clip.
