It works perfectly fine. It only uses 4 of them and they last a while. There was a thread somewhere on here where an individual installed a lipo into a Dx3r, might be worth a look, but the radio is not designed to be used with a lipo. a 1 cell isnt enough voltage and a 2 cell is too much, you would need a regulator i believe.

Pretty certain that those doing the mod were using the 6.6v life batteries.

I use rechargeable AAs and have never had a problem with my DX3R Pro. I can charge them in the radio using charger I have with my DX6i or charge them externally. Lasts almost a month per charge.

Get Low Self Discharge or Ready To Use AAs. They don't suck. Hardly ever need to recharge. Sanyo Eneloops are considered the best, I have a bunch of cheaper Tenergy that work great in several of my transmitters.

Yes the spectrum case work wit the radio. You just have to cut out some of the foam for the new antenna and the drop down wheel.

The spec sheet says that it is telemetry capable. Can anybody confirm if the included receivers are telemetry capable? I'd really like to use my personal lap counter again and this would also give me a good reason to upgrade lol

No, there is no telemetry receivers. Receivers included are the sr2000 and the sr410.

So it appears the antenna does not fold down... How tall is it?

I have a homemade case for my 3R - don't think this radio will fit.

I got my DX4R Pro yesterday, used it today for the first time, I absolutely love it. I was using the DX4S before and while you can't neccisarily justify every upgrade, I think this one is great for a few reasons...
-The trigger width is adjustable to fit your finger size snuggly to improve the forward to brake movement
-The wheel and trigger have tension adjustments
-Around the wheel there are three assignable buttons vs. the 4 on the DX4S, but on your left hand around the grip there are 3 assignable buttons vs the one on the DX4S, the first two, D and E are up down - so in my case I've set them to be throttle/brake, so while driving without stopping you can adjust up/down the throttle/brake with your left hand, I love this!

My only issue is, WHY DOES THE 2S Lipo 2400mHA Spektrum batter pack I just bought for the DX4S not work in this new remote? There seems to be no provision for future lipo pack use. There is a DC input jack so you can charge rechargeable AA's while in the remote... but I can't understand why the latest version would lose a feature of the previous model?

Regardless I love the remote, solid feel, awesome usability, and well thought out.

Didn't lose that feature - it's exactly the same as the DX3R which is the previous model and not the "S" version.

Use cheap, readily available Ni-MH's and a charge cable or external charger if don't want to make/buy one. (see manual for barrel plug polarity) Pretty easy, and even mere Ni-MH's last for several race days between charges. A non-issue for me.

Anyone running the new micro race receiver with a savox servo? I am curious as to how they are working normally we have to run a cap because of the power hungry servos.

My DX3R PRO was ready to be handed down to one of my boys. After using my DX4R PRO for the first time all I can say is if you like your DX3R PRO you will love the DX4R PRO.

Feels just like what your used to with a fresh new touch. Very happy with my new radio.
