They have scte zero offset and +3 sc10 offset so it depends on which ones you got.

The +3's center section should be pretty sucked in compared to a zero offset scte rim. If you have a zero offset rim to look at you will be able to tell.

Would be good to for you to know as that wide of a track will give you different handling characteristics and others setups would not relate.

DE SCTE rims with the Wide AL hexes (tekno slash4x4) barely fits in a ROAR box. Your guys' +3's are not legal, no matter what "hex".

The Avids I got are the SCTE fitment, so zero then.

Avid has both the 0 offset and the +3 offset, as do most of the other major brands, so just the brand won't identify that. We can take a look next time we're both at the track and compare.

Does this truck do any better? I'm also curious about how well it jumps. The guys that put my local track together tend to favor large jumps. Would it be durable for a basher? Does the traktion drive do much for handling? And how well does it handle in general?

So, first, just to put this out there, you are asking Tekno fanatics.

That being said, I think its the most honest bunch in a forum so in short, yes better than sc10 4x4, durability of Tekno is unmatched other than alumnium hex and servo horn which aren't must haves but those are the only weak points. Of course there will the normal SC wear and tear like bearings and bent cvds but I have spent very little maintaining this truck.

No one runs the traktion drive, for rear traction we run the +1.5 rear outter hinge pin holder($20 upgrade) and with that it is awesome especially on outdoor loose stuff.

In regards to jumps, it will not break but you may have a nose down effect initially due to chassis slap until you adapt your suspension and pistons, most go to the 8x1.3 for more pack and maybe a step up in springs and 35F30R oil or slightly higher.

I run on 1/8th scale jumps as well, this this drives and handles like a buggy almost!

For a large outdoor track (I'm guessing), any of the regulars would be a better choice than the AE... Tekno, Losi, Mugen.
Any of those are easier to work on than the AE by a mile.

You can get help with your AE in the sc10 4x thread, things like M2C rear toe block to add rear toe in. RcShox center ball diff is a major improvement if you don't want to spend the coin on a new truck.

IMO, the Tekno and Mugen are the best trucks out right now. There is a lot more support on setup for the Tekno and you don't have to convert it... just open the box.
The Mugen thread is pretty quiet because most that will go through the effort to do the conversion are seasoned drivers (for the most part) and don't generally reach out for much.

So the short of it from an unbiased person, if you don't want to shell out for a new truck, you can improve the AE. If you want the best and most accessible truck for a large track, Tekno.

As a SC10 4x4 convert my self, I would say get the Tekno before dropping more money into the SC10. If your doing tight indoor the SC10 will be ok, but even with the $100 exotek chasis, $45 center ball diff, etc. the Tekno still blows it away outdoors.

Agree. You get to a point of diminishing returns. And after you spend a few hundred on upgrading the AE, you should have just bought the Tekno.

i have a pro 4 hd motor what pinions would i want for a medium size dirt outdoor track, a tight grass track, and speed runs on pavement.

why doesn't anyone use the traktion drive? wouldn't it protect the drive system?

what will i want to upgrade out of the box and how strong and fast does the servo need to be?

what kv is your pro4 HD, I run the 4300 and run a 15t for a pretty big indoor track, servo it's up to what you want, I heard torque is preferred but I like a little speed to so I went with a multi servo that has a good amount of both

i have the 4300 kv motor. right now with my sc10 4x4 i use a 16t pinion and temps are around 120-130. does this truck need a slipper to protect the diffs or to help control traction?

I've read people using up to a 18 with that motor with the current limited. I'd probably start with a 16 and go from there. Remember the Tekno uses Mod1 gears so your 32P from the AE won't fit.

No slipper necessary. It really is basically a 8th scale with short arms. My experience has been that the camber link positions and toe can be used to give the truck a more planted feel.

I had an original SC10 4x4 and I really started to hate the 4x4 SC class. I got sick of the popping noises, poor jumping, and the never ending list of parts that I was supposed to buy. I finally shelved the thing. Now with the Tekno, all I want to run is the 4x4 SC and the E-buggy. It's so much easier to work on but that's kinda useless since you hardly need to work on anything.
