Short answer:
The 12R5.2 is pretty awesome the way it is. There is no value in messing with this.
Longer answer:
Level tubes will put the least average side load on the inside of the tubes as the pod rotates and the tubes slide in any out of each other. This makes them more consistent and last longer between rebuilds.
It really doesn't make a big difference. I mean, you could change the angles and mounting points 1-2mm and the car will go around the track the same.
Performance won't change unless you move both inner and outer mounting points closer to or further away from the center pivot. This would reduce or increase the leverage and travel or sweep of the piston in the tube thereby making the tube provide more or less damping for the same given fluid in the tube. The friction characteristics of the system would also increase the resistance to sudden movement (off roaders call this "pack") as you get further away from the center pivot or vice versa.

Great result for Team Associated last weekend at AOC round 2. In modified 12th scale 8 R5.2s made A-main and secured top 7 in finals, TQ & win by Factory driver Keven Hebert.

3 of us ran our 12r5.2's Fridaynight for the first time. Its a local short carpet track, 17.5 blinky.
These cars are tough, smooth , and planted! Really no bugs, shakedown cruise was great.
Only one thing came loose, one of the side dampeners popped off, snapped it right back on.
It seems to me that its not nearly as twitchy or darty as other 12th scale cars I drove. The whole car , especially the rear end feels very well planted.

I just picked up the 12R5.2 to try out. Thinking I will run it in 13.5 class at IIC to start out. Any setup tips or is this thing pretty much dialed out of the box?
Haven't started building it yet because I have a 1/10 project on my bench to get out of the way first, but it looks like a nice car.

The car is a bit on the heavy side, I would recommend getting aluminum screws from fastener express.
I also cut a 2mm thick chassis for the 12r5.2. It saves 12 grams of total weight on the car. I still sell them if you are interested at a later point.
