I put 4 small dabs of white lithium grease on the main diff gear and install then spin to spread around. It makes it run smooth and quiet.

Been using the clear silicon grease for the gears .

A small dab of the top gear and spin around to coat the rest ..

The advantage using the clear grease is you will not risk contaminating the diff grease with a incompatible lube and ruin the diff ...


suggest cleaning the gears every 40 packs ....

Mark each gear with a sharpie and reassemble the same as when running before .

I have been on an odyssey of sorts lately - I have always been an AE user but recently purchased a 22T kit and a Mini 8ight. To make a long story short, I converted the M8 to a Truggy and started building the 22T - but none of it felt "right". So, I gave the M8 to my son and sold the 22T. As a result, I purchased my first B4 kit (B4.2). I had the original RC10 gold pan when I was a kid (Dad built that one), but this is my very first buggy build as I have always built trucks (T3 Team kit, T4 Team kit, T4 Factory Team, T4.1 Factory Team and an unbuilt T4.2 Factory Team waiting in the wings). As such I have been reading the threads and have been surprised at the recent surge of B4/T4 bashing. Having built and run several myself I really don't get it. The cars win races, and even though mine may have become a bit loose (I hate the word sloppy) I still enjoyed them. I know many want a B5/T5 (myself included), but I am very happy working with the current platform. Anyhow, I am very excited about building the B4.2 - even if there are a lot of haters out there!!

dont forget to upgrade the ball cups. the stock brakes too easy.
put a 2mm spacer on the rear lower shock bolt so the link wont rub the shock. (we discussed a few pages back)
and clean with alcohol the diff rings, balls and out drive. they come pretty dirty.

So, I'm still using the std AE wheels on my B4.2
I never broke these wheels but my local hobby shop lists the Jconcepts mono wheels the at the same price. now there are 4 wheels in 1 package.. so they are cheaper.

Are the Jconcepts mono wheels good? it the yellow the same as the AE wheels? do they get dirty faster?

they have a matte finish and are harder to clean, because the dirt gets into the pores.

Try the Avid Satellite rims. Glossy face that doesn't hold dirt, super strong and run very true. They take glue very easily. Best rim!

I have always used the JC Mono wheels because they are easy and cheap to get at my LHS. Never had trouble with them.

Same for me. Thats all i use and no problems.

I have them. its not like they will break in half, lol. He asked about them staying clean. The matte finished will hold the dirt more than the smooth shiny finish. I am not a big fan of the deep dish wheels much anymore. I like the flatter face of the avid wheels.

I had to switch, running on black dirt they just got too dirty. A dirty car is not a dialed car! Personally I have found the stock AE wheels to be pretty darn good.
