Default Hobbywing guys

Can anyone tell me if they have ran the Hobbywing esc with the Revtech 4800 motor?
Is the esc sensored?

I too am a Tekin guy,but don't mind trying something new.
I just blew through another Rx8,and have 5 more in other vehicles, but I also believe that their behind the ball when it comes to 4 poles motors on 2s....

Thanks in advance.

Tekno FTW!

Depends on the ESC. I would probably recommend the SCT-PRO (120a) which can run either sensored or sensorless. To be honest, I've been running tests, and smoothness wise I can't see much if any of a difference. They also have the ezrun 120 sc8 without a sensor port which seems to work just as well so far. I would probably recommend the SCT-PRO however just so you have the ability to used sensored if you want.

I've been running the SCT Pro with a Revtech 3800 for the past 2.5 months now and it's been great. I just installed the latest firmware and it stuttered occasionally so I'm going to go back to the older version.

The control, smoothness, feel has been the same as the RX8. It's much easier to adjust the settings. I really like the on/off switch. I've had to hard wire my RS so it may get a HW switch.

Ty,

I'm gonna purchase the Blue Hobbywing 120amp.....Just wanted to be sure that my Revtech wouldn't punish another ESC...

I've heard nothing but good things about these Hobbywing combos.I hope it holds true..

You will not be disappointed with the HW sct pro esc. Make sure you get the LCD professional program box if you don't already have one.

I have also owned a couple tekin rx8s but I sold them both after using the HW escs. The warranty on the HW is 6 months if you purchase from HWNA vs 90 days from tekin. I can also email a HW tech 24 /7 (including the weekends) and I'll typically get a quick response to my question or issue.

What motor are you using? I'm still troubleshooting at this point. I couldn't recreate the stutter and it may only do it once during a run and not for long enough to matter at all. I tried a new sensor wire so my options are either motor or software and it only started doing it after the firmware change so that's the next step.

At this point I would still suggest a HW over a Tekin but that is only my personal experience.

You can also change the current limiter to 80% or less to reduce the strain on the batteries. I'd go maybe 60-70% to start.

What can I do to my lipo so the puffing goes away. Because right now my lipo is ballooning a little but I don't want to touch it unless it is safe.

Once they puff u can't unpuff them.. These 4x4SC's and 4 pole motors put a hurtin on a 2s lipo. +1 on the higher c rating and be sure to keep them balanced. A quality 2s lipo is key to a good 4x4SC setup.
Another thing to consider is depending on what your doing w/your truck, a 2 pole 550 may be a better choice for u. I've been running tekin's 4000 and 4600pro4 indoor/outdoor since they came out but for a few weeks I've been running a Reedy Sonic 4t outdoor thats smoother bottom end but just as much snot up top and my lipo's love it.

If I'm reading this correctly, you have a Tekin SC4X 4.5 motor? It's a 2-pole motor not a 4 and needs to be geared lower. If your batteries are puffed they will not come back. If they are badly puffed you are taking a huge risk even using them. Good luck.
