So is current limiter the answer here, or punch control? Why would you limit overall power versus just limiting how strong it comes on? My hobbywing 4000Kv seems to have just enough power for my tastes, but i really don't see how current limiter would help my driving, versus punch control limiting my wheelspin. I also noticed my truck keeps shutting off at weird times during the race. I tried a new sensor wire, re-did all my solder joints, checked to be sure all my bullets were tight fitting, and made sure my receiver plugs were fitting right. It will just have no throttle for 10 seconds, but the steering works fine. I'm using good new smc race formula packs as well. I don't know what else to do.
What esc are you using? Are you running an external BEC?
I'd say current limit for temps and punch control for handling.
I went to pink and green springs and upped the oils by about 10wt per side , made a big difference in mine . Wanted to get the 8x1.3 pistons but they sold out rather quickly after the sale at amain started ......

That does sound funny. If the steering quit too I'd say a glitch buster but that sounds like an internal esc issue to me. Does it happen closer to the end of a run or just random? Maybe the switch acting up and the delay for the receiver/servo is just small enough not to notice as compared to the esc.

It's a mamba max pro with the castle 10 amp external bec, paired with a hobbywing 4000Kv motor. It happens at random times, happened at start of a race, middle of a race, and towards the end of a run, so there's not really a pattern here. I disabled the switch, so it's not like it's ever "turned off", just loss of throttle. For now, i'm gonna try my other "backup" mmp and see if that fixes it.
We sent it in and it was replaced. The replacement worked ok, but without current limit it would still cut out just from motor draw (HobbyWing 4700kv).

If you remove the switch from the equation it sounds like a bad cell causing the lvc to kit it. If the battery isn't the case, sounds like it is time to try the other esc.

yeah that means you'll never lose steering. sounds like you've checked just about everything. Anything hot when you're done running?

Esc wasn't even warm.
