Depends on how much you want to spend? If money is no option then I would have to say go with Tekin rs pro and 17.5 gen2 motor or LRP setup. Radiopost blue servo. If you are on a budget I use the Hobbyking 35amp esc and turnigy 17.5. Setup cost me about $65 and is awesome. But if you ask 10 different people you are gonna get 10 different answers on this one. I would stay away from Novak though I have had bad luck with them and other people I know. They are NOT what they use to be. They "were" the shiz back in the day. The Solar servos actually aren't that bad. Havent used them in my buggy but have used them in nitro cars and they hold up well for the price.

There is just so many good brands to choose from now it's hard to just say choose this one.I have used Novak,Tekin,Castle,Hobbyking,Hobbywing and I'm sure others I'm forgetting. I just ask people at the track how they like there stuff if it is different than mine to kinda get feedback on stuff to buy. Guess just pick one of the known good brands and go with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Back then it was Tekin and Novak. I never had any issues with my Novak ESC or receivers. The hobby has changed and its hard to sometimes get back in. I just want something reliable, simple and easy to work with.

Question for you stock racers. I will be running a B4.2, tekin rs pro with a gen 2 17.5. I have 75t spur. What pinion should i start with. I am running at TQ hobbies in Boise, ID in 2 weeks ( I would say its a medium / small sized indoor track ). Locals are running 72/29 and 69/36. The issue is I don't have those gears and since this will be my first time running stock is there something comparable at 75t spur / pinion?

Let me know if you need more information. Like i said ive never been down there and dont want to purchase more spurs/pinions for a one time stock race. Im just tired of getting my butt kicked in mod.... so i am ready to get it kicked in stock .

Locals are running a pretty wide range in gearing, anywhere from 2.48:1 to 1.92:1. 30-31t would be close to 72/29, and note that a 35t is about the largest pinion you can fit with a 75t spur. I currently run 75/34-35.
