wow, I watched the round 2 video and it was pretty rough looking. Not Ty says it is completely blown out. Well what can we say, its is offroad with concreted , metal bridges and lots of dust, lol.
I would like to get some suggestions on those motor cleaner spray, bearing oil, diff oil/fluid/grease, and tranny grease you guys use with reason.
Also I'm looking to build a ball diff, so if I can get a parts list needed would be appreciated.
Also what do you guys think about robinson pinion with Kimbrough spur? Good combo?

Bearing oils, diff oil and greases can all be bought on A-main. Most every major company has some. Try one or 2 until you find the best for you.
I assume you need a ball diff for the 4.1. The factory one is pretty good and so is the MIP one. I havent used a ball diff since I been back in electric racing. But thats a personal preference.
For pinions and spurs, ell the major companies, Kim, Robinson, JC, are all good. They will all work with each other so dont worry about that as long as you get the same pitch gears.

bearing oil-i still have banana lube from awhile back but i know some people that use trinity
Diff lubricants- associated diff lube and associated black grease
For the diff, this is all you should need:
part # ASC7678
or

And the pinion and spur sound great!
Any motor spray you buy at you LHS will be fine for cleaning out any motor. If you need to clean your RX or speedo, there is a dedicated electronics cleaner for that.

The bearing oil, diff oil and greases, idk which is good to get and isn't there different weights?
I'm still debating to go with ball diff or not. At this point I still feel gears is best for me as I might set up the ball diff incorrectly. Don't I need some sort of diff oil/grease for rebuilding it?
I find on a club level where you are racing with varied level of drivers or even other classes in practice, the bumps and knocks the car can take much like the SCT you had hit you bend the milled plate really easy. The pros dont have this problem because seldom do the crash hard or have someone poleaxe them.
An easy way to see if your motor plate is bent is to look at your gear cover, if its not sitting flush on the motor plate, more than likey your plate is bent. Over time (esp if you do a diff rebuild) this can make the spur and pinion mesh funny and can also wear the gears in the diff different to normal and the transmition can become noisy.

I was thinking of this: Dynamite Magnum Force 2 Motor Spray for the motor spray. Just need something to clean my gears/bearings with.

Eventually you will want the performance of a ball diff if you continue racing. Very few people stick with a gear diff. Not saying Its bad or wrong but ball diffs are the norm. Might as well start learning! You may mess up one or two but it will be second nature before long. Associated sells diff grease and oil for ball diff, no weights involved. Grease #6588 diff lube #6591
Yes gear diffs need different weight oils to rebuild. I would get 2000,5000, 7000 and 10000 to be covered, if you stick with gear. I don't have any gear diff setups though. Associated also sells these weighted oils.

Is there some certain parts that are better to use for the ball diff? I see that carbide balls might be better. Is this the conversion kit everyone uses: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...fferential-Kit ? or do you guys get separate parts?
BTW, what are the difference of the two bags of balls in the diff conversion kit?
All of mine are tweaked but the 8 year old one on my t4 is still straight. It seems like the 4mm plates bend easier than the old ones.
Well I'm not exactly racing just yet... more like practice. But your prob right, I will end up ball diffing my way through. If I spend all my money on those oils, I prob will end up with a ball diff conversion anyways.

I was planning to also do upgrades in the spur area. Any knowledge for Garodisk/VTS Garodisk/VTS/Avid Triad and opinions is appreciated.

yeah I have to just break down and order the Avid motor plate. I have a spare that I can use. I was just basically expressing my frustration at the fact that I have gone through 3 of these things in less than 10 races. I swear SCTE's are the bane of my existence! Last winter I had one hit me so hard that it ripped the left rear of my car off, cracked the T plate, and cracked the speed control case and logic board. It's like I drive around with a Target symbol LOL.
I mean I do enough damage on my own... don't need assistance LOLOL
