Sort of. I'm running 1.7 30w front & 1.5 20w rear. I was running 32.5w/22.5w, but we just put in the new layout that has some pretty big step downs that were causing some bounce, so I dropped the 2.5w. The rear is also a little loose with the lower weight, so next time I'm there I'm going to try 32.5w/20w.

Had a really fun day of racing yesterday with my fresh build. Our track is high bite indoor clay. Started completely stock. Car was pushing pretty bad. Put the Avid steering rack on and that helped. After finding the right tire selection the car was pretty good. Then realized the older hex wheels I was using were wore out bad in the hex. So there was a ton of slop. Glued up some fresh tires but wanted to try out some Vector rears which didn't work well for the conditions in round one.

Found out the shop had big bores in stock so built those just in time for round one also. Noticed a huge difference in landings and take-offs. For the better.

Round two glued up HB Beams in Pink, squared the car up, set ride height, and ended up with a 2nd place qualifier behind our local pro. Yeah!!

For round three I had issues. I thought my diff had fully broken in. The car was like, stopping and half spinning out when coming out of corners. So I tightened the diff slightly and went back for some practice before the main. Realized my"ol reliable motor' was making the dreaded dripped rotor noise. So I switched for another and was ready for the main.

Before the main I tried out the shaved rear brace/C-hub setup and it was good. Started the main and was doing well till a couple laps in and suddenly the car felt terrible like in round three. And I just couldn't put the car where I wanted. Then I started noticing the motor was making the same noise I heard earlier. So I'm assuming the sensor port is bad on my ESC. Dang it.

I know feel bad for starting this year with a different brand of car. LoL. The B4 is flat hooked up for me and puts down fast lap times. McLoving it, ha ha ha.
CP what tire/foam did you end up with on the front? What foams do you use with the beams?
Also are you running the Ae suggested setup for the BBs as far as the oil/pistons?

Hey buddy.

On front I ended up with the Green JC Rips. They don't have the bite that Pink HB tires do. I could drive the car a bit more aggressive.

For the BB shocks I was going by what the BB build sheet suggested...except there were no black front springs. I used the green which I think are 3.15??

This weekend I'm gonna try heavier front oil with a more aggressive front tire. This depends what the traction is like tho.

Found out yesterday that my ESC was the problem. So now got to spend some time getting the Tekin RS set to my liking.

Felt the car was a tad better soaking up the small stuff in the track. Which my home track has plenty of lol. I swapped back to 1.6's a week later. Not sure I'm happy about the change back. I'll be on 1.7's next week!
wow, that heavy on the oil huh? I am still on V2's so it just surprises me to see that big of a jump. Is that on really high bite or are those piston holes just really big?

I don't know the new pistons yet. Is a 1.6 a bigger or smaller hole than a 1.7?

anyway, good stuff.... keeps me entertained during the work day and I will be able to refer to all of this when I finally do drop the money on the shocks.... was actually going to get them yesterday but my radio went poo poo

1.6<1.7

Alek K (the fast guy) runs really heavy oils, and springs on his 2WD. He makes the car look great, but I can't drive it.

I was running Losi 27.5/25 with Losi Red pistons, and Red/Yellow Losi springs. Car was soft, but still had plenty of pack, and was responsive.

I have been looking for a good driving tip thread or article. Anyone know a good resource? one geared for offroad rc would be ideal.

Don't know about a thread, but the best advice I ever got was "stop hittin' shit". Sounds simple and stupid, but it made more of a difference than anything except tires.

lol, scrubbing speed, outside to inside or inside to outside lines. setting up for the corner and maintaining as much speed going in as you can and accelerate out of the corner. There is a lot to is besides dont crash lol. I can not crash and still be last by 2-3 laps.

absolutely, just saying that made the biggest difference for me when starting out. I could drive, but ended up getting excited and over driving and crashing. I figured somebody asking for driving tips probably should get the basics first. The next most important was about driving in traffic. Don't follow directly behind someone, stay slightly to one side, so that if he stuffs it in the tube you have enough room to go around, and if he goes wide you can still duck underneath and go by. Just those two things added 2 laps. Maybe someone should start a "driving tips" thread. Seems clean driving is about as rare as common sense.

for me, I need more corner speed. I lose too much in the corners. I probably let off to much going into the corners. But walking that line between over driving and under driving the car. I read an article on the advantages to the outside to inside line and that helped me smooth out my line and go faster. Maybe the car is not right and cant be pushed hard enough. I dunno maybe I am too conservative. maybe time to drive it like i stole it, lol.
