What's a good starting point for gearing for a Pro4 4600 on medium to small tracks? 32 pitch gears correct? Thanks

That's some tall gearing for a 4600kv motor............

For a medium size track I'd go 12 and maybe a 13 at the highest....... For a small size track 11 or 12 would work.......

Yeah, one of those new things on the way, you didn't get the memo?

You think that's tall? At a large outdoor track I run, I go 15 or 16/60!

Inside small track 14/60.

No overheating issues either. I have a 13T Pinion but never had to drop down to it.

I used to run a 14t with my mamba mAx but With more timing and the rx8 I ran cooler with more control on 13t I mis the torque limiter works better than rx8 current limiter now I run the 4000kv and low end torque is crazy I am loving it

I'd say get the kit first and run it bone stock since your getting the FT kit it has most of the upgrades that would be recommended from the original kit..... Only spares really is servo saver, and a-arms (rpm ones, stock ones warp easily) as this truck is built like a rock and can take a beating.......

Garodiscs are great if your going to stick with the stock slipper setup, however rcshox center diff has alot of owners even happier with their sc10....... From there just adjust/tune as you go, no need to spend a ton of cash up front if the stock parts work for you.......

What kind of track does your son run at? Indoor, outdoor? Size?

Get the FT Kit for sure and the RPM Arms no matter what.

Both indoor clay 1/10 and outdoor 1/8 dirt
I don't usually run rpm arms(too flexible)
What about exotek chassis?
Some say it's a must
Rc shox clutch?

in this case, the RPM a-arms are actually pretty stiff, and highly durable.

The M2C toe in block I would pickup as it really helps on tracks that are loose to lock in the rear end.

RC Shox center diff is a great plus as well from what I have experienced and others. But if you want to try the stock setup its much better than what we had before clutch baskets, etc.

The exotek chassis I personally love. Adds the weight the vehicle feels like it needs down low. Don't get pushed around by the losi's. Pricey, but feels like its worth every penny.

Also, would get front spring kit and use that on the rear.

I run the same as you.

Indoor, the truck will be pretty much hooked up, as is. Get the garodisks.

Outdoor, on the 1/8 track you are going to have trouble. At a minimum, you will need the EXO chassis, and I highly suggest the RCSHOX center ball diff for the loose stuff.

Questions?? New here but not to the hobby

Hello all new here but not new to the rc hobby. I have been away from the electric hobby for about 15 years and boy have times changed. I was running gas onroad for several years but got out of that and now back into electric off road. Just bought a SC10 4x4 about a month ago and went with a RTR i Know why well just wanted to get it and start to get the hang of off road again quickly without all the build time. Ok ive always been a associated fan and not a losi fan and always love a challenge of setting up a chassis. after reading this thread here is what i have done so far to my truck.

Exotek front diff lock
changed diff oil
30,000 front
7,000 rear
shocks
32.5 front blue springs
27.5 rear yellow springs
sway bars F/R
blue on both
8mm mod to rear

If anyone would like to chime in to tell me whats right or wrong that is fine i like to hear what all have to say and try differrent setups or changes.

Thanks

Use thinner front diff fluid when running the Exotek locker. I think the general concensus is 10k.
