It's an aluminum tube that goes in between the rear hub bearings, when you tighten the wheel onto the axle the crush tube keeps the bearings from binding.

have you guys been watching the 22sct thread? Man i am glad I didnt get one. I am sure losi will eventually get all the kinks worked out. Anyway. Have you guys looked at cav current sc10 nats setup? I wont have the kyosho springs, but I am thinking of using that setup as my baseline. His b4 setup suites me just fine. But that setup was for high bite. what would you change on out door low-medium bites? Just tires and maybe raise the inside studs 1-2mm?

Hey guys. I recently purchased the Avid steering rack and was trying to install it. When installing the steering rack on my SC10, am I supposed to use the bearings from my FT sc10 kit? I noticed some holes where they could go, but they seemed like a very tight fit (and I would have to jam them in there). Also, should I be using the plastic steering brace that comes with with stock steering rack (the small plastic brace that goes under the steering rack? In other words, what pieces from my FT SC10 do I need to complete the install. Thanks!

Yes and yes, everything but the actual plastic bell cranks transfers over. The bearings arent super tight, but yeah there should be a little resistance. make sure to add a drop of blue locktite to the screws that go into the new alum bellcranks, dont overdo it though...you dont want to get the locktite on any moving pieces.

But I will need to detune it for the kido. In her t4, I used an RtR mg servo. It is super slow and helps out with her over fast movements. I stiffened the front to make it push a little and the I limited max throttle to where she can drive it. But the sc10 turns way harder than a t4, so any tips on how to detune the sc10 for her? and will that servo hold up? I dont recall the part number right now. It was like $18 on tower hobbies. I am not worried about the jumping... I dont give her enough power to leave the ground for more than 2-3 inches, lol.
I've got a kid running an SC10, too. A set of RTR tires on the front and good tires for whatever track you run on in the back tends to calm down the steering a bit. Limiting the throttle is good, too, and slowly bringing it back up as the skills progress makes it more fun for the kid (not so much for the marshals, sometimes). He was running the stocker RTR servo for a while, too, but it was actually so slow that it made it harder to drive, i.e.he couldn't compensate for his initial jerking around of the wheel quick enough.

yeah, I will probably put the rtr tires up front with some snipers in the rear. I ordered a new servo for me to try out. So she will get my old one and I will use the servo speed setting to slow to as needed. I am thinking green or grey springs in the back with blue or reds up front. sound about right?

For those of you running the Avid steering rack. Do you worry about the servo gears stripping? I run a savox 1258 and was thinking about going with the avid rack. But I dont want to blow up a 70 dollar servo. I had tried gluing the stock rack before I got the savox and ended up killing 2 servos. Yes they were both cheapies(stock ae and jr z270). I am a pretty clean driver but a bump in the air or passing lap traffic at the wrong time can upset the best racing line. lol Any feed back on durability with the avid rack? Thanks all

I dont worry about it. My airtronics 94357 is a war horse. For over a decade it has done whatever askes. No avid rack will stop it

I wouldn't worry about it, especially with the titanium gears in that servo.

Ok Question

I am doing the Avid/Traxxas/Losi BigBore Shock conversion but am Unsure which Traxxas retainers to go with.

Is it these ones

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ring-Retainers

Or these ones

Cheers

How about for the other end? What's the right one for those?

TLR 22 Lower spring cups, or the Avid ones. Depends on how much you want to spend.

Matt, you're fast!!! Thanks. I've got 3 RC buggy/trucks I'm outfitting and learning as I go. I went with the Avids for one, but, man, those things are pricey when multiplied x3.

I think I'll try the Traxxas/Losi retainers for the other two.

Thanks a ton!
