I would try the ca thing. I still have wheels with axles attached in my shop because the dremal idea didnt work.

I stripped the middle screw of the top plate where the blue countersunk washers are,
Had no choice to dremel the screw and also a little bit of the countersunk washer

I looked for a screw extractor but all the shops here don't seem to have those...

are the screw extractors good? what seize should I get (going to buy one on ebay)

Hey guys. I recently purchased the Avid steering rack and was trying to install it. When installing the steering rack on my b4.1, am I supposed to use the bearings from my b4.1 kit? I noticed some holes where they could go, but they seemed like a very tight fit (and I would have to jam them in there). Also, should I be using the plastic steering brace that comes with with stock steering rack (the small plastic brace that goes under the steering rack? In other words, what pieces from my b4.1 do I need to complete the install. Thanks!

Then continue to grind of the ball end until it leaves you a hex. You then get the sane paper to sand it to make it smooth. Since it will be rough gray if you pain some primer and paint (use the tape to tape off the threads) and then paint it if you wish. You now have a hex screw for your front axle.
Oh, that is a great idea Cooper. Are you sure someone that you use to race with didn't come up with that idea? Then maybe that someone used nate's dad's dremel to make them. Maybe it was on his last day at the track before he moved?

I just put the Avid steering rack in my SC10. My SC10 is RTR though so I don't bearings (ordered them) but bushings. The bushings/bearings do go into the large holes on the 2 Avid pieces although I lost one of my bushings and it didn't seem to make a difference. And yes you re-use the plastic brace from the old rack too.

Some will advise you to use thread-lock on the upside down screws, but be very careful with that if you use it at all. Thread-lock in the wrong places will cause binding - the last thing you want.

Hope that helps a little. You can do it.
