SC10 4x4 Thread
because of the weight difference i think subcultures from jconcepts might work better. I have been running a combo similar to the DoubleDees in the front, and Subcultures in the rear, and it makes the truck come alive in comparison to using the same tires on the front and rear.
in 2wd buggy you can compare tires from AE and Losi alot better because the weights are similar, but there is a large difference from the SCTE and SC104x4.
I agree....however that's not always a good thing.
SC10....I can win races with it, and I only really drive it for the big races.
RC8.2....I can win races with it, and I've only been driving 8th scale nitro for 3 months.
SC104x4.....same track, same competitors, and I'm getting spanked...didn't even make the A.
RX8 w/ SC4x 5.5T
Savox 1258
Garodiscs to help with the fading AE slipper pads
Dual Stage pistons
Ran soft holeshots, which is the same tire that the top 3 guys had on their Losis....
I'll find my setup when I get home.....if anyone has any suggestions to get this thing up to the same caliber as the SC10 and RC8.2, I'd love to hear it....I really want to wipe the smile of the smug Losi drivers faces, rather than join their ranks....
I probably have 6-8 more club races before my season is done....I'd really like to podium at least one of those....

I think a lot of sc drivers are scrubs and this truck is definitely not for them. Not everybody but some.. It's like a different breed of drivers that drive sc compared to buggy and this truck takes finess and setup time almost like a buggy. Some dudes just want to drive it right out I the box... Losi is one of those trucks you can do it with.
People say they are giving up, how much time have they put into tuning and practice?

You can go by someone who comes to this thread ,drives something else and says the truck needs help even with mass aftermarket gear that don't work .
or
You can go by someone who says the truck is good, sticks with it, wins with it , loves it & Ae ....

b) Not sure if you are referring to 8th scale buggy, or 1/10th 2wd buggy....but I am winning with 8th scale buggy and 2wd SCT, and getting my ass handed to me with the 4x4.
well...what is it that you want me to go by then? What magic trick from the wonderful world of wild cherry am I missing?

Mine is great, better all the time, my favorite rig.
But I do get to race on a beautiful indoor clay track so.....
If I got to race on a large outdoor 1/8 scale track, I would be racing 1/8 scale. Lol

Well I've had mine well over a year, done all the mods on here and then some more, the truck drives fantastic, on rails, but at our outdoor loose tight track, we have a lot of off camber corners, and turns after jumps, the "other" trucks here just get the power down better, faster, harder, all pull away, pretty frustrating stuff, I race against national winning drivers, they had the truck when it came out and dumped it pretty fast, hardly guys I would call scrubs, whatever that means in your part of the world, but I think I get the idea. At our national champs out of over 25 trucks there where only 4 SC104x4s, only one made the main, ex national champ he was too, watching the mains it was not the driver who was outclassed, it was very clear it was the truck being beaten off jumps etc, I have stuck with mine trying to make it work, race day tomorrow with more diff mods, I will report back how it goes. If you look at my sig, you will see what I race, and I win with all the other cars, including on road.
I'll probably get flamed for saying it again but whatever

That brings me back to my point of the C-Diff being a big improvement. The biggest benefit I saw was that I can now come out of a tight turn that opens up to the face of a triple that I only saw scte drivers making... my truck now has the pull to stab the throttle and backside it.

Please don't think I'm "flaming" you, I'd love to win with this truck, then I could spend my cash updating my other rigs, I have run center ball diffs, I did make my own ones though so maybe they didn't work as well as the Marcus ones, one thing I have noted on other boards tho, guys that own all three top brand trucks, don't tend to run this one outdoors, that to me means a lot as well when choosing the best outdoor rig.
sure others are coming
I did not have the v1 C-Diff, but the v2 has the pins that lock in or put more pressure on the balls as speeds and centrifugal force increases. From what I have read the pins were the missing link.
Maybe you can just order the machined spur, thrust washer, balls and pins to adapt to your homemade C-Diff, not sure. But after you have paid shipping it may have just made sense to buy the complete kit cuz you wouldn't want to pay for shipping the rest of the parts to NZ if it did not work with your parts.
Outdoor is where you will see the greatest benefit from the C-Diff also.

i dont under stand you guys i just got back from racing and i am the only one runing the sc104x4 i mist the qt dam wheel came off agan but late in the race qaliffied 11th out of 20 with no front wheel took 1st in b main bumped to a and put the rong battery in my wires unpluged and i fixed that and on the last lap hit the v cut off got second to last all in all a good race i think i have the fastest truck on the track witch is an 1/8 track out door i just am afrade to dive it that fast still remimber how the truck use to be like on fast ice if you wont setup help just say the word
I have fun with my SC104x4, and it has been MOSTLY very durable (raised ball studs bending and sagging suspension arms excepted)
But ever since I have caught the racing bug, and proven that I am a contender with the local guys in ALL the other classes I run in, I am having less and less fun being beaten by 80% of the guys who drive "the other truck"..... 4 guys have dropped the SC10 in favor of the losi, and one has gone from traxxas to losi.....
Last year, when there were 3 guys at our track running the Losi, and they were all the type of guys who could win if they were driving a RadioShack truck around the track.
This year, there are 10 Losis. 1 Traxxas, 1 Ofna, and 1 AE.
Last year, I was in the middle of the pack.
This year, I'm lucky if I'm not bottom 3.
But I've moved up the ranks in everything else.....
tbh since the losi is heavier the holeshots most likely are working on theirs, but wont work on yours as well.
because of the weight difference i think subcultures from jconcepts might work better.

Though I see where you are coming from, the holeshots were still better than any other tire that normally hooks up well at our track.
