Funny you mentioned 111 cause I heard that was a very small track as well?? If I'm ever in the area I may check it out, and Coyote's is actually going to be closed after this weekend for a full remodeling and hes going to make the track almost double the size it is now so I can't wait because the owner's going to start allowing 8th scales at the track now......

111 used to be pretty small, They recently changed owners and now the track is 5000+ square feet. They keep the surface damp like West Coast so traction is great. When Coyote revamps the place let me know and I'll make the drive out there and check it out.

Hey Guys,

Im somewhat of a Noob here and have just acquired my AE 4x4, it is used 5 times and somewhat FT upgraded from another member. I am in the process of getting it up to snuff before I hit the track. I currently run 2W hard.. Thank you for the great reads and the AMAZING creations from inginuity from you guys here!

My question is regarding the diff / slipper on my rig.. I just learned of RCShox , after I purchased the Team Associated FT VTS Slipper Conversion Set.. (I would have gotten the center diff setup). Being that I dont want to waste $$, I will use the Team Associated FT VTS Slipper Conversion Set and make it work hard for me.

Is it a correct understanding that this Team Associated FT VTS Slipper Conversion Set is better than stock because it offers more friction areas, of total surface areas, to adjust friction? (LIke the old clutch basket in my dirt bikes) With that understood, the last battle would be the "slipper pad" material? So, it is safe to assume the Garodisc upgrade is all I will need from here to avoid any fade / resurfacing?

Thanks Guys and happy hobby racing! Team AE Hooah!

*Running new RX8 / pro4 4600, stick lipos, weighted plastic chasis, yellow springs and bars all the way around. 15k diff fluid up front , 5k in rear. (low traction bumpy tracks)

If your going to run the VTS slipper I def. recommend the garodisc's......... Example at the track with FT pads after about 4-5 packs I found myself continuing to have to tighten down the nut on the clutch to get the same power as before, took out the pads and they were glazed big time. Got the garodisc's and was able to put 10 packs on it and was still getting the same power down all day without any notice of major slipping or adjusting the clutch nut........ I also recommend getting the exotek inner hub to go along with the VTS slipper setup.......

So the gariodisks are kinda like beefed up slipper pads? More durable? Do you guys notice a performance difference between the two? Even if they were both brand new when you swapped em?

Yes I did notice a perf. difference between the two. With the FT pads they were a little thinner but not by much but they glazed very very easily especially with the power of the 4pole motors that alot of us are using. The garodisc's being slightly thicker and stronger IMO just held/holds up alot better then the pads meaning you don't have to adjust the clutch nut by tightening it down since the FT pads glaze super fast.

I've been running the VTS slipper with exotek hub and garodisc's for several months and I've yet to adjust my clutch nut and yes there is some slight glazing but the good thing is you can just scuff it up with sand paper etc and its like new again....

I see. I've just been sanding the glaze off my pads every 6 packs or so. They do glaze quickly with the power I put down. It would be nice to set and forget it

Just to show the differences between the two Garodisc's vs. slipper pad:

To the left is obviously the garodisc which I ran for almost a month before switching it out with the exotek inner hub.

To the right is the slipper pad which was only ran for one day at the track.

The slipper pad was just about fully glazed and you can tell I had to tighten down the clutch nut alot since the pad is showing signs of indents from the hub.

The garodisc has no major indents but after a month of use it does have slight glazing but remember this was done after a months use and if I were to scuff it up with sand paper it'd be like brand new.......

That's cool looks like a good product. Same feeling performance? Just different material.
So you are Now using one gario I'm combo with the locked hub? Rather than 2 garios? Correct?
