Serpent 811E Buggy Thread
#2731
On another note, my new Orion 2100kv motor showed up today, this thing looks nice. Much better build quality then my Tekin 1900. Nice durable looking posts. My posts on all my Tekins broke. And the end bell appears to be held on by screws, instead of pressed and glued like the Tekins. The real test comes on the track, can't wait to run some laps

811Be's take the top three spots in qualifying, and the win at the first annual Mo Denton's RC Palooza:

Huge track with great flow. Surface got pretty dry and rather rutted and bumpy by the mains, but still a fun track. The back straight was about 200 ft long, and my car was geared for an estimated top speed of 46.5 mph, not including tire growth or aerodynamin drag. Some of the nitro buggies were hitting 50 mph on a radar gun, and my car at least as fast. Anyone going to this track for the RC Pro Series race on Aug. 25th (I think that is the date) won't be dissapointed. Lots of pics and vids were taken, and should be posted up soon.

A short update of the "impossible" modification.
The esc is still in one piece.
The esc without fan is at maximum 160F after 20 min.
It works perfect with a "ordinary" servo arm in alu.
Very clean layout with low CG.
The battery trays can be run very "cutout" when using a alu brace
and works pretty good with a "shaved" original "lid".
The race ready weight is 3489grams (7.68pounds) Yes, a couple of options as well... ;o)
What more can be said. A very good car thats as durable as the Mugen one. With better handling

Im curious if the body would still fit if you kept the esc cage on it? How much racing have u done? obviously you havent damaged the esc, so what type of track do u race on?
I think that's not a bad idea tho ... probably helps when using a high torque steering servo.

finished building my 811e today. Ran into a few snags. Few screws stripped due to tight fit (have good tools, hudy) several holes not lining up right. However the most difficult was the motor mount. With the motor mount tightened to the motor it would not go into the car mount. Had to take off and dremel ALL the anodizing off both parts and thensome, just to get the motor in the car. No way it was going in without it.

im totally bummed that Billy Easton isn't racing in the IFMAR Worlds in Argentina later this year... my gut tells me he didn't approve of the 'sport' models recently coming out... and my other gut tells me he had a rough time at the ROAR natz
... which is why I have this theory about top drivers doing well at warm-up races...
