LRP IX8

Ok, have a couple options to try thanks to kind people...but need to work out gearing:
The TP 1900 would have been ideal at a 13/14 pinion. Unfortunately I don't know the max rpm of hardly any 8th motors to know how to gear other vehicles!
I am going to be trying:
LRP 2200kv motor
Tekin 1900KV motor
I need to work out approx gearing to use on both, anyone know what difference the kv makes to the gearing/or experience of different makes?
I was thinking of starting on 13 on the tekin, and 12 on the LRP?

I updated the firmware before I had even ran the car so I can't compare the new firware to what it was like with the old one, but, I did run the car in 2s after I had updated it, as I was still waiting on my new cells arriving and I only had the one pack. The car ran perfectly well, as I said, I don't know of the issues the old firmware had but it runs good now. Ran it yesterday with 4s and all I can say is WOW, so smooth and the brakes are unreal. This is my first LRP esc and I'm glad I chose it. Top notch stuff.

2 different ix8's and 2 different issues. Had enough with this junk. First esc was cutting out horrible. Sent it back and they sent me a new esc and ran it yesterday and heated up beyond belief and thurmalled and motor also got real hot. So changed and lowered the settings as low as I could and in about 2 minutes it shut down... Just glad people I raced with tekins so I could race after traveling over 3 hours. Just hoping it didn't ruin my motor.....

I bought one of these recently and finally have enough time on it to have an opinion.
Overall I like the ix8. For anyone on the fence I would feel comfortable recommending it so long as the unit they bought has the newest software already on it. Its very smooth and even though it doesnt have a ton of programming options it has what I would consider most important/useful and is pretty easy once you go through it once or twice. I like that it uses modular wiring so its easy to remove from the car.
I originally planned to run this on 2s in my scte but it had some issues with cogging and brown outs which I suspect were fixed in the latest software update. I chose to instead run this is my 1/8 scale buggy because I didnt want to buy yet another option piece just for functionality that it should have had in the first place.
I have also noticed that my temps are slightly higher than they were with my rx8 in the same car with the same setup. I figure thats because I was running the current limiter at 90%. I dont really notice a difference in performance, just temps.

Yea. I see temps 10-15 degrees hotter on my ix8 than I saw with my rx8. Never a problem though. I actually think its because the ix8 runs using the sensors only. The Rx8 is actually a little more efficient using the dual drive where is switches to a more efficient sensorless drive mode after the motor starts turning.
The thing I like about the ix8 is that its 6 months old and still running.
This about the time my rx8's would die. So if this ix8 keeps running then im happy as a clam.
