I am using Robinson Racing "48 Pitch Hard Nickel Plated Alloy steel pinions". I am running a reedy sonic 7.5 2 pole.

So with the tekin 540 4600 4 pole, the 48 pitch is the correct pitch to run?

No, you want to run the 32 pitch gears.

That does not make sense to me? I would think a lower pitch (larger teeth) would hold the power better? Hence 8th scale guys going Mod 1 (coarser pitch then 32?)?

I never had an issue! Ran both the 550 motors and the 4 pole 540 motor with the provided 32p spur. with 32p purchased pinions.

You sure you're not confusing 48 pitch with 32 pitch?

Correct, brain freeze.

4 pole motors (540 or 550) should be using the 32 pitch gears.

Standard 540 motors should be running the 48 pitch gears.

If you're chewing up spur gears, then check your mesh, bearings, and make sure your input shaft isn't bent.

p.s. Make sure your motor is secure as well. I chewed one up not too long ago because the motor moved.

I ran the Garo's in the stock slipper and they were better than HD's. I would think the same outcome in the new FT slipper.
Check the center diff while your at rcshox

Thanks for the link, I almost bought the wrong ones. Yeah I read about the center diff as well. I think I am going to drive it with the slipper first and see how I like it. Then grab the ball diff so I can see/feel the difference between the 2.

Any of you guys running an LRP TC spec v2 with a Reedy Sonic 4.5 550? Where should I start for a pinion? I race in 2 diffferent series and we race on many different tracks ranging from a tiny indoor facility with 13sec lap times known as Bashers all the way to big 1/8th tracks with 100' straightaways. I know I will be changing gearing accordingly but just looking for a starting point. 11,12,13.. 12,13,14... Suggestions?

11 at the tiny track and 13 to maybe 14 at the bigger ones. Basically have 11-14 with you and you're good to go anywhere.

i have a lrp tc spec v2 with a lrp 4.5.. gearing at 62/11 temps coming off around 160 after 10-15mins of hard driving.. but i have 2 fans blowing on the motor that i drilled out to mount because before temps were out of control where temperatures range from 200 plus.. gearing before was 62/12 and truck had way too much top end and way too fast.. when i had the tekin 4 pole 4600 in with the same gearing it was 146.. hope this helps.
