i shim till the diff feels right. you dont want the diff to have to much play and you dont want the diff to bind.

i have some wheels and tires on my truck now that "shake" on throttle. iam assuming there is a built up of dirt inside the rim. there are holes on the inside of the wheels and none on the outside of the tire.

whats the best method for putting some holes in mounted tires ? i thought about just using a drill but i dont want to hit the foam or possibly corkscrew the foam out. i cnat remember but i think i have done that before...

yea i know odd question but hey there might be an answer out there i havent thought of yet.

Ya thanks. I have the x-ray .5x15x.3 shims and have read all 10 times you've posted that...but I've also read that AE is sending out .5mm shims....was just wondering if the .5mm shims were the way to go!

I've used the hole punch tool to put holes in mounted tires, works well.

You'll have to shim it to feel, everyone's stuff is a little different, and there won't be an exact answer, if it's worn to be hell, then start with fat shim, if pretty new, start with skinny shim.

You need proper gear mesh inside the gear diff, whatever shim it takes to accomplish this is the "right" one....

don't be put off by the locals, they might be a little harsh but most have decent tech...........

Shims are not "one size fits all", they are "as required". What you are trying to achieve is proper gear mesh. If .3 shims give proper mesh, use them; if .5 give proper mesh, use them. Used gears may require additional shim thickness to achieve proper mesh. Asking repeatedly on a forum will never get the proper thickness for YOUR diffs!

The truck changed alot. I feel like I lost push which was great, but It's still not Cameron's or WC's truck from the videos. But I need to go to daves is really what it's down to. And drive what I see and see if I can duplicate it. I'm driving in a shithole right now so it's really hard to compare tuning from bench night to bench night.

I have all the parts for the 8mm mod but i'm going to hold off until I have the truck back under my control before I bolt that on and start playing.

Suggest U coming to Tacoma & drive my truck .....

Medium grip, but seems the 7 pins went along with everything else to help alleviate my push. Truck is very controllable with this setup.

I took for granted that the new FT kit had the correct shims for the diff. First outing was rough in the big sweepers when the diff would "lock" up. No fun at all. Time to tear it all down and rebuild it correctly. My fault I guess?

Oh well. Jumped and steered well. Novak 550 5.5 was plenty of power and super smooth. Cooler temps than I thought also. Happy overall.

Yes. however the printouts in the manual are actual size so that could work in a pinch.
