SC10 4x4 Thread

+1
Come on WC, unlike some others here I think you are better than that. Just because AE makes it doesn't make it the end all be all or else there wouldn't have been a need for the VTS slipper in the first place.
BOOOOOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE

I will switch between the VTS and the v2 Center diff.
Reason being: I am about ready to throw the whole diff in the garbage after installing 5 of those pins.
This has nothing to do with the quality of the product and only with my annoyance of tiny parts that won't install quickly.

Some small screw drivers have a magnet on the end (normally cheep give a way ones with company logo's on them). Stand up the pin on the end of the magnet and slide it into the hole first. Slide the magnet off the pin sideways so not to pull the pin back out. Do the pin first and then the ball. When taking the diff apart a bigger magnet can be your friend sucking up all the pins and balls before sliding the gear off.
Lay a towel accross you lap then sand the truck on it's side with the diff up for easy install. If you drop something the towel will keep it from disapearing on the floor.
Cain , tell me why you think the others are better ?
I will always recommend to everyone what the Team drivers themselves are using ....
This is why recommend the VTS ...
Ae is always making improvements to their products , the VTS did not just help the 4x4 Sc performance ...
VTS is also designed for the 2w ST ,SC & 2w mod buggys ...
I recommend for everyone to try on those rides as well .....
Cus Trcr's faster Ae drivers have just started using for them selves....

Cherry, you didn't just recommend it, you said it was the best.
So I am asking you why it is. And why I ask you this is because of the fact that I think you do have valuable input. Your last advice on the setup of the vehicle you sent me via email was quite helpful by the way.
If you are saying its the best because the team uses it, etc. It needs to be tempered with the fact that the team drivers apparently are not allowed to use any other products other than AE's, even if the product is actually better than what AE has produced at the time. (ex- prior to the VTS Slipper, MTK clutch basket)
Using that logic, its like me saying I am the "best" because I whip up on the kids with Tyco cars who are not allowed to use anything else with my SC104x4.
And if there is an advantage on some conditions to using the VTS slipper, I want to know as I can easily pick it up and keep it in the box for those if it is. Or, if as you say WC, its the best, the V2 Diff would then get regulated to the pit box for conditions where that excels.
The "best" choice will be the one mounted on the vehicle most of the time then.
And just to clarify, my experiences first hand have been with the MTK clutch basket and driven a few vehicles equipped only with the stock pad setup prior to the VTS setup. Based on that, the MTK basket was far superior to the stock pads. But I am assuming everyone else already knows that LOL.
Hope to get some experience with the V2 Diff soon here.

Cain , only recommending what the Team driver's do as they have the most experience ...
You can try your best to say the team driver don't or can't use , this is simply not true ..
Anyone can see all kinds of custom stuff like Avid , MIP , Lunsford ect being used by the Ae team racers .

If you tried the center diff I think you would like it.

I was hoping to get more insight into what you were seeing or hearing from other drivers you associate with that made you feel that the VTS was the "best" as you said versus the other options out there like garodiscs, V2 Center Diff, etc.
For those who have actually used the V2 Center diff and a clutch basket setup (AE, MTK, etc), what conditions did you find the clutch basket was the best choice to go with over the V2 Center diff?
I am wanting to see if its worth keeping it in the pit box, or, maybe just the garodiscs, etc. to be ready for any conditions.
We appreciate your opinions WC, don't be afraid to try new things though. Everyone on this thread was talking about how good the basket was way before AE released their basket. But there was a few people who said it was not needed, and now it's the best upgrade that can be done.

Heck, maybe Marcus could send you one to try out on a loaner basis or we could chip in to get you to try it

I appreciate that as I believe others do too. But, keep in mind that even the best minds don't get it right all the time. Just look at how the SC104x4 when it first came out was received and what all changed on it to get it to the point it is now.
+1 on appreciating your opinions and I would like to hear yours on actually trying the basket.

I currently have the v2 center diff in, but don't have much time with it yet. I can say that just running out in the drive I have way more control than with the v2 diff over the VTS slipper. This weekend I should get some track time with both.
I've dropped a few dollars on rcshox products. Maybe I'll get some freebies soon.
