i experimented last year with different weight batteries, my car always handled better and more consistant with the heavier battery. power was also more consistant throughout the run

Smoothness and braking and runs super cool I've ran tekin also in 1/8 and I'm in love with the Orion r8 and 1950 combo!! Just butter smooth...
Now the big test will be outdoors which starts in 2 weeks that will be the real test of its durability then is when I find out the whole package.. But the whole indoors season has been flawless... I did hav to replace the fan ,I just put a tekin fan on it..
Butter smooth
Cool, thanks for the input. You may have just cost me $350.00,

Will aluminum chassis braces have a negative affect on the car? Also, what aluminum servo horn can I run on this buggy. The supplied horn cracked (dont know how) and the one I ran on my old buggy wasnt as tall as the one suplied with the kit.

Did it break near the battery/esc tray? You can dremel off the edge of the tray where it comes so close to the chassis brace. Should take care of breaking braces.

(thanks, Jeff, for the tip )

It broke right below where it mounts on the gearbox. I dont think it contacted the speed battery/speed control tray.

Don't know what to tell you aside from the tray mod. Haven't had any problems with the braces on either end.

Somebody posted a pic of their 8.2 with a Racers Edge servo horn that looked pretty sturdy.

If you look really closely, the tray just barley contacts the chassis brace. Just Dremel down that little corner of the tray, it should alleviate your issue. Personally, I went with aluminum chassis braces front and rear, a BCE chassis, SS screw kit, and DE bumper/skid plates. As others have said, this buggy handles great. Better than my Mugen. But in the durability department, out of the box, Mugen blows Associated out of the water!

That's where mine were breaking until I dremeled off that little corner on my battery tray. It was pushing on the brace.

I am believe it or not, I have an aluminum one for it, but this one is fine so I haven't replaced it. No problems yet.

Yes. Never had a problem with it.

I don't know how y'all are breaking all these parts. My 8.2 has had the hell beat out of it. Only thing that has broken is a wing mount after repeated hard hits and bent upper arms. BTW, anybody got a set of the new reinforced uppers yet?

About the only complaint I have is diffs leaking after a few weeks but I'm going to try some RTV sealant on the gaskets next rebuild.

Ive used the stock horns for years since the rc8 was first released. I only run aluminum on the truggy steering.

Which aluminum horn do you have? It seems like there is a clearance issue with the horn that came with my servo that I was running after the stock horn broke.
