I am contemplating the Tekin RX8 with a 4600, the Castle sc PRO with the MM 3800 1410, or the LRP 4.5T with the SXX ESC.

Hi mate,

I run on a large outdoor track, running the CC 3800 with this,

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._1_8_1_5_.html

Gearing 25-93, very fast, runs super cool, can run down any top end motor ESC combo, and $40.00!

There big but they fit, even with saddle packs, I also run one in my 1/8, awesome ESC and easy to program with the program box.

anyway it seemed like it was running great for about 20 minutes until we realized the power cutting a bit from a dead stop. after we pulled it in i could tell the motor was smoking hot! check the temp and it was 270 degrees!!!!

i checked if my pinion was to tight on my spur gear and it wasn't. i waited for it to cool down and put a 14t pinion on . it stuttered on starts again and i had my son run it around our very small indoor track 2 laps brought it back in and the temp was already up to 220 degrees.

speed controlled never got hot.

i'll call associated tomorrow to see if they can help me out to as why this is happening. does anyone know what the problem might be? this is definitely not what you want to happen after you install a $260 part in your rc...

What pitch gears are you running? I have see 2 RTR kits at my local track and both were 48pitch. I'm not sure, but 14/93 wouldn't be too good a combo. 14/62 in 32 pitch is ballpark.

You might check with Tekin. They have a military appreciation pricing for our troops. Not sure if you still have to be active or not to get it.

Also THANK YOU for your many years of service to our country.

I would like to see Marcus go back and attempt the triple with the extra rear spring and let us know how it went.

I am testing tomorrow the reverse idler gear and blue fronts in the rear.

Are you using the Ballistic 550 with the 14mm rotor or for the sc104x4 only using the stock rotor? I heard the losi guys needed the 14mm for heat issues, wasn't sure if this was being seen with the sc10 4x4.

The rear blues do feel really good on the rear of the truck I have to say for the runs I took with vehicle.

From what I found, the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro ESC for the money ($125 new + shipping):

- No heat issues I am seeing
- No weird BEC issues
- tons of setup options, especially with that programmer card.
- Fits the inline saddle setup under the belt tunnel easily, room to spare.

Very happy with it.

Speaking of speed passion stuff, has anyone tried there 550 sized motors in the SC10 4x4?

heard they also have a 540 4 pole in the works ...

I ran the 14 mm in the 550 for a while. It is really fast, but with how it has to be geared, it was eating up spur gears like nobodies business. Went back to the regular 4.5, and it is Not as brutally fast, but still plenty fast enough, and you can gear a higher ratio and put less stress on spur/idler gears

Hoosier,
You may want to look at the Tenshock sc411 motors. I was running the CC1410 but needed more after putting the center diff in. The 4600kv is a controllable monster of a motor. Runs cool and smooth. I haven't had to add timing to have all the power needed.

ignore Coyote he is like that.

go tekin rx8/4600 and thank me later.

you'll need to upgrade your slipper though. I recommend the center diff from rcshox.

Research www.rcshox.com and look at his products, they all work good. Also read thru the pages here we have a lot of good info to help you out.. There's a search feature within this thread that you can use to find info out.

I think we have covered just about everything on this truck.

Once we figure out the rear spring situation , this truck will be even better.
