no idea why you want ballance a car that dialed out the box

If I had four scales, I would do it for you as I am currious exactly how balanced it is myself. I know on my Xray, it needs 2oz of extra weight to properly balance it with the various equipment I have in it. However, since every battery, motor, and esc manufacturer has different sizes and weight, every car is a little different. But i will tell you that this buggy is extremely well built and is extremely stable both in the air, around corners, and rough areas of the track. If the buggy was not properly balanced it would not handle as well as it does. Remember that this buggy isn't like the others that have one large battery on the right rear and then the motor on the front left. Your balance if far better with 2 split batteries on both sides of the chassis, not to mention a lower center of gravity. Even the new Sworks saw the wisdom of using 2 batteries, however they decided to stand the batteries on their sides. Seems like they would have a higher center of gravity and be more prone to flipping over in the corners. Anyway, I would highly recommend picking the new serpent up. You won't be disapointed.

Because I trust numbers more then my gut feelings, and I have not yet seen the car personally. So I can only say that it looks georgeous on pix, but to me it seems that on the left side is the motor and mount, on the right is the servo, transmitter, esc and the plastic mount, so the esc has to be set really far out for a good balance, as it is said to be a rather heavy car, I want to use the lowest amount of weight possible. I would love to see some numbers showing the facts, so I can compare it better to other cars.
Since I am no way an experienced driver, the car and setup has a lot to make up

I agree on most points, and I would love to choose the Serpent in the end, forgot to mention in my previous post that I know of no other Cobra in the local tracks, but it might change (hopefully! ). Most people here run Losi and Mugen, so those two have a serious advantage that the Serpent has to overcome.
I love the layout except for the battery holders, it looks way better then the others, I just want to make sure that my feelings are right.

I will do it for you in a few hours. Waiting at the damm car dealer for service and then to the track to get some more fuel trough the new cre bonito. If its not up I'll do it. Do you want batteries in the car, bidy on or just esc, rx, and motor? Let me know and I'll weigh it how you want it.

How much is needed for battery in ebuggy? Thinking of going 1700 tekin for motor. I currently have 40c 5000's for my 1/10 stuff. Hoping those are enough. don't need to add another $200 to the cost.

Just finished the build and the first time out with it will be this sat. I will post back on how the serpent compares to the VE8.

I ended up taking some of the shims out of the front and rear pinions. It just seemed way too tight. Going to run a few packs through it and check the mesh. I just can't see the ring and pinion breaking in that much.

Im not sure if I would need numbers from four scales to balance the buggy. Seems like a good quality tweak board would work. I personally watched billy Easton at the Alabama $10K indoor race. I didn't see any scales in his pit. What I did see was him lay down some blistering laps with a buggy that never got outta line. My Mugen Eco now sits on the shelf waiting to be stripped down of electronics because I have a Cobra Be en route to my house. I believe there is an article about it on Serpent website. Jus my 2 cents

Im running the tekin 1700kv motor with the same batteries. Pick up a 19,20, and 21t pinion and your set. Run times should be around 15 minutes with low motor temps.

HI GUYS,,, im thinking about getting the serpent 1/8th be buggy. my question is ,,,,is serpent comming out with anything new as kit wise on this car. i hate to go out and buy it now and i find out that they are comming out with a new one this year. please help.

I would say no, it is pretty new and a lot of the e buggy parts are being moved over to the nitro platform to update that car. You should be good to go. I am about to order one also, have ran the gas buggy for the last two seasons.

heres the go, They brang the 811-be out with the new stuff so technically the nitro is the old version and we hold a car with all the new version goodies from the start

Ya, I believe they did a little R&D/Updating on the E platform. These updates are coming for the Nitro platform. A lot are available now as E parts.

This is the new serpent car. The nitro car will borrow a few parts from the e car when the new nitro version hits the shelves in a month or so.

Brian those batteries will be fine. The 1700 is the perfect starting point. Idk if you will get 15 mins but for what we run around here it's enough. The 40c will also keep the power under control.
