Serpent 811E Buggy Thread
#1426
I will do it for you in a few hours. Waiting at the damm car dealer for service and then to the track to get some more fuel trough the new cre bonito. If its not up I'll do it. Do you want batteries in the car, bidy on or just esc, rx, and motor? Let me know and I'll weigh it how you want it.
Im not sure if I would need numbers from four scales to balance the buggy. Seems like a good quality tweak board would work. I personally watched billy Easton at the Alabama $10K indoor race. I didn't see any scales in his pit. What I did see was him lay down some blistering laps with a buggy that never got outta line. My Mugen Eco now sits on the shelf waiting to be stripped down of electronics because I have a Cobra Be en route to my house. I believe there is an article about it on Serpent website. Jus my 2 cents

This will be my first 1:8 and want what is the best for me, that might also help explain why I need to boost my confidence.

Thanks for the replies on the batts. Going to be gambling a little on my esc too and trying an mmpro. I plan to use an hv servo and pull 7.4v direct from one batt instead on buying the external bec. The included bec has high failure rate. Hopefully this will get me through for a bit until I can upgrade.
As for the pinions, what brands work? Or pitch I guess. Could really use some advice on this, thanks

Our local young hotshoe ran the mmpro last year before acquiring tekin sponsorship. Everyone just uses the external bec. If I can work a way to just run direct that's one less device to fail. I've read of several issues with the rx8 too so not sure what to do. Would like to use a 150a xerun(?) hobbywing(?). But there seems to be concern with it fitting.
Pinions need help on pinions please, want to order this am.

I have run tekin stuff for about 20 years myself. I would still go rx8 if I could but on the rx8 thread there have def been some issues. There is apparently a difference in a 3 or 4 screw case that people seem to look for too. Probably just the normal failure rate .

Honestly if you got the updated tekin rx8 you would never go back to anything else and you would love them. Sure they had some failures but they came back strong with the updated version that has probably 0 fail rates because they are flawless. I don't know what brand to go if i didnt have tekin they are just awesome!

I was thinking about doing the same thing for my servo as well. I just don't like the idea of drawing from only 1 battery and unbalancing the load. if you are planning on running 4s you could wire the batteries in series for the esc/motor like you normaly would, and then have a secondary circuit wired in parallel to power the servo. that way you would draw from both batteries. I have heard about some guys plugging into the balance tabs for servo power.

From: concord ca.
noticed rear mud guards hit the black collets of the upgraded Anti-roll bar shaft. (wishbones will not go up all the way).
either i remove and heat gun flat the section needed, or trim out.
just another note.
any one else run across this problem?
