Top end is the last thing I need. I need that low end snap. It's funny, I just pulled my gearing from the AE Manual to start with but I think I was looking at the wrong turn motor on the chart. It suggests 28/75 for 13.5 and 25/81 for 10.5. I must have looked at it too quickly.

your 13.5 gearing ranges from 8.112 (25 tooth) to 7.511 (27 tooth) with the new motor.

Mine is 9.156 (23/81). I guess I'm just way out of the power band......guess I need to change it up.

OHHHH wait I see exactly what I did. Since I had just come back to racing, I never ran brushless before and I remember asking what the brushed equiv of a 13.5T was so I could guage it... I was told a beefed up 19T. I just looked and the suggested gearing in the manual for "19T Super Stock Motor" is 22/81 (where I was starting).... Didn't click that was 19T brushless and completely the wrong gearing LOL.

I have both and they fit fine for me. I heard the regular AE b4.1 body will not fit on the +8 chassis though.

No, that 19t refers to brushed, but you gear a brushless motor way taller than you gear an equivalent brushed motor (IE 27t you'd never run a 33t pinion).

BTW those FTW bodies are butt-arse ugly. Blech.

wow, I knew I wasn't going crazy.

http://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/ca...-preflight.pdf

Scroll down to page 34. Shows the gear chart. It has the WRONG info in it for 13.5 for sure.

says to run 20/81 to get a 6.96 FDR. 20/81 actually gives you a 10.53 THAT is why I was so jacked up.

if you look at the online manual for the non factory team car, it shows the correct 28/75 ratio 6.964 FDR.

I feel like Sherlock Holmes trying to piece this stuff together hahaha

I'm planning on a LRP 9.5 at that track. My B4.1 should be here this week.
Guess a 23/81 should be fine?

With the 17.5 blinky class we need as much top end as we can get, and the 72/35 works really well. If you get to much heat you can run the 75/33 and still be pretty fast.
mine ran cool geared at this. FYI 35 is the biggest I could fit, a 36 would hit the heads of the motor screws.

i would think its in the ballpark. of course tires, motor, esc, boost, etc. can all have a bit of an impact. my gearing is with holeshots and an old gtb speedo, and a preference for putting power down smoothly

I wouldn't be surprised to see 24/81 work fine as well. LRP's are good with a little more heat (180 ish). Many guys are running 23/81 on an 8.5 with no issues.

suggestions are always fine but nothing beats a temp gun..
