SC10 4x4 Thread
Yessir!
Hopefully I will have gotten rid of the sLosi by then and have an SC104x4. I'm still acquiring all the parts and spares I need for my 8.2's (since these are my primary classes) as well as buying new nitro motors, so hopefully the Income Tax fairy will be nice to me and I'll be able to swing the new SC before Mike's.

Hrm.
Interesting. I've had luck with leaky diffs (just in general, not any specific car) in the past by trying different brands of O-rings and using ones that are sometimes slightly larger.
I used to use the Kyosho's on a car I had because they would swell slightly, just enough to not leak but not enough to bind.

Kyosho grease slows it down ALOT, i like the feel of it better anyway!

Edit: Kyosho is it's own distributor... so I can't get the diff grease through my job... So.. conclusion: GREASE IS DUMB.
alright, you see this pic

and now this one

The black piece with the recess in it where the washer sits underneith the sun gear is deaper than the shim itself, so the sungear rubs on the inside of the diff case. Once it wears in, all you need to do is double shim that side, and run the stock diff gasket.

Edit: You should keep hair out of your diffs... It's not good for them.
(joking.. joking.)
lol @ Coyote!
@Sym: Yeah I can see that. So I'm guessing you can't just double shim the sun gear or something to start or would it just be too tight?
How long and how many diff gears did you go thru before it was broken in?

My dog leaves his mark every where i.e. hair. It drivese crazy, but he is my buddy so....When i first put the diffs inthey worked great untill the groove wore in, then my diff ould lock up because of the sungear sitting deeper into thediff case. I double shimmed it, and put on the stock diff gasket. They have been working perfectly for 2 months, everytime i service them, the are full, no leaking.
it took two weekends to wear in, butit didnt do any noticable damage to the gears, this isnt a losi

*ahem*
Anyway, so two weekends of racing? Or two weekends of packs, those could be very different things.

If it's just a couple of packs I'm the type that would just sit there and hammer the thing until it broke in.
That is really odd though that they made that fundamental a mistake.
