I agree, that's what I do. Put a new set for the main and use the same ones for practice and qualifiers. I use cheap ones since I'm going to replace them soon so not too much invested in them....

I use my fuel gun for every main with no problems. Like Gavel said the engine has to be tuned well this with the gun or a bottle. If it shuts down as soon as you open the gas tank something is wrong...

No, that's not correct. You shave only 1mm from the front of the lower front arms. Then add a 1mm shim behind the arms. Moving the front arms forwards. But that's only part of what needs to be done.
